Famous reviewers:
Reviewer: Gino Vannelli: "Very beautiful production, arrangements, & a great voice too!!"
Sandin sent this CD to my studio with a phone call from Jimmy Haslip...... I listened to it , and listened again...... "Sandin's CD is one of best Contemporary Jazz/fusion CD's I have heard. Richly produced and emotion filled, it is probably the best debut solo attempt I have heard produced on the West Coast, his beautiful voice, and bass work to compliment it . Very worthy of modern music lovers listen
Reviewer: Jimmy Haslip:
Sandin is a monster bassist/vocalist....with a melodic tilt
was Executive producer on Sandin's CD, and loved working with him on every song. Sandin is a Monster bassist and vocalist and his music is on a very high level, one listen and you will be hooked, Each tune is different from the last, and in a groove that is very listenable from cut to cut........ It was a pleasure working with him, we have become great friends from this experience..... I know you will love his CD, it is simply............... gorgeous..........

"Music is a funny bizness"

Musicians try to
"publicize, maximize, enterprise, criticize, downsize, localize, and still
try to be fresh and have a creative flow to give the talent we have worked
all of our lives to perfect, and share with the music lover.
Sometimes it feels hopeless, and other times, the sheer joy is given freely
between the musician's and listeners.
The cold facts are, it is harder and harder to be creative, and make a
living in a world when the bottom line is "how much the club can make off of
you and your following" for your talent.
Some of the most famous musicians in the world have to tour other countries
, because in America, there is not enough support, depending on the type of
music.
The world is still in love with talent, great songs, and incredible
musicianship.
Portland has always been a great spot for musicians, the 70's, 80's and
even the 90's, but with free downloading, less clubs to play, more bands
willing to play for practically nothing (it is their hobby, and I understand
they need a place to play too), and club owners not really caring as much
about quality as much as quantity, (of people coming thru their doors)
This fact is pushing musicians into playing more weddings, funerals, Bar
mitzvahs, circumcisions, kiddy birthdays @ Chuckee Cheese, and any event
where they can make some money to keep pursuing their passion...
"creating beautiful, rockin music.." that moves people
Hey, don't get me wrong, I love what I do!! I just feel that times are
changing again, as they have every 7 yrs, and we need to find a happy medium
as creators of music, not just followers of trends.
Life is good, check out and support your favorite band or solo artist..
and walk up to them and tell them how much you appreciate what they do!!!.
Like,
Regina K, Alex Shakeri, Kerry Movassagh, Carlton Jackson, Reinhardt Melz,
Mel Brown, Dan Balmer, Tom Grant, Barry Aiken, Andy Stokes, Linda
Hornbuckle, La Rhonda Steele, Jennifer Batton,(who by the way, played
guitar for Michael Jackson for 10 yrs), has a new CD coming out, and now
lives here and supports Portland's musicians like no one I have ever seen
before)..........the list goes on....
Peace
Sandin
