GINO VANNELLI IN THE ALBUM TOP 1000 OF ALL TIMES

RADIO STATION VERONICA IN HOLLAND, THE NETHERLANDS.
On number 389 of the album top 1000 of all times published in March 2012, we found GINO VANNELLI's ULTIMATE COLLECTION. This is the Dutch 3 cd box version made in Holland and released in 2003 by Universal. A beautiful musical treasure for music-lovers!
In April 2010 there was an album top 750 of all times published by Radio Veronica and this same 3 cd box ULTIMATE COLLECTION was on number 473 so this album is in upward movement to the top! The editors posted the hit-lists on the web page with information about this album.

ANOTHER BOOTLEG OF GINO VANNELLI'S MUSIC WILL BE RELEASED!

STILL HURTS TO BE IN LOVE
Today we received e-mails with questions about a new Gino Vannelli cd that will be released on 13 april 2012 with the title Still Hurts to Be in Love and they write by Gino Vannelli. Yes of course it's Gino's music but not released in this way and without Gino Vannelli's permission. So it's a BOOTLEG!!! They ask people to pre-order the cd and amazon has no tracklist so people do not know what's on this cd. Very clever! But don't let them fool you! The major big cd shops on the internet advertise with this cd in the USA but also in Europe. In Scandinavia we found a tracklist and it's exactly the same as "the best and beyond" & "Stardust In The Sand" If you want this BOOTLEG cd just order "the best or beyond or the book with cd "Stardust In The Sand. "Still Hurts To Be In Love" is exactly the same cd only with a different picture on the cd-booklet. And NO credits for Gino Vannelli!!! Those record companies do these things without permission of Gino Vannelli or without permission from His managements!
The editors often wonder how can they do this? Is this possible? Is this legal? But all this goes beyond our understanding and our brains cannot handle these matters inside the weird world of music business. You have to understand that this is our personal opinion and we write how we feel. We investigated this today and we write down the facts we found and we try to explain this matter in our own non-professional way! Simple & honest!
Anyway we thought to warn you all, this is NO new cd because Gino is working on His new cd right now while His ears and hearing system slowly heal... He looks very forward to jump on stage again in June 2012. Concert news will follow in the near future! Looking forward to a musical June 2012 with GINO VANNELLI who is anxious to sing but a little scared too. This bad ear accident had a great big ugly impact on Gino. But His dedication to His music is so intense and deep that He fights back to jump the stage again and sing His songs with this unique voice...

The disappointment is very big inside the editors team because we made 85 web pages inside OUR Gino Vannelli guestbook with big pleasure and fun we made these 85 pages with many pictures and Tripod suddenly tells us that they are going to delete it all??? We are in panic and we are going to make the 85 web pages inside our Tripod filemanager if that is possible. We try it and see what happens... So from 1 April 2012 people cannot sign in anymore and write a message but we will try to keep the old 85 pages for sure!!! That Tripod bullshit is so annoying and why do people want to change all the time and the changes are not allways better. Let us be old-fashioned and enjoy the old school guestbook.... We have to find a new guestbook or something where people from the whole world can sign-in and write something, people need to write about their emotions and especially GINO VANNELLI emotions! We also want to save everything for the music history and certainly the GINO VANNELLI music history!
Every word, picture, line, story, review, interview, video-clips and whatever about GINO VANNELLI needs to be saved, HE is such a genius in the world of music and HE deserves to be noticed in the next 25 centuries and more.....

FROM VOICE PROBLEMS TO ALL KIND OF DISEASES AND OTHER NONSENSE....
One look at the official GINO VANNELLI web site ginov.com or this GINO VANNELLI fan site http://www.ginovannelli.info and everybody knows what really happened with Gino, we even tried to translate the official statement into Dutch but people and journalists are so lazy and do not want to check something they just write something down because they do not care! This is the editor's own personal opinion!
Gino's inner-ears problems will heal but it takes time and the flying is impossible and forbidden because deafness looks around the corner and a musician with deafness is almost unthinkable!

Dear Dutch and Scandinavian fans,
Gino will have to postpone his concerts with the Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra, and the new Danish trio this January. A few weeks ago Gino had a stage accident that did serious harm to his ears. A crew member unwittingly unplugged a mic cable while Gino was testing his in-ear monitors. The blast was so loud that Gino lost his hearing for a moment. It returned after a few seconds. Gino went ahead and performed but in a few days the damage to his ears manifested. Not fun.
Gino has seen a slew of doctors. Thankfully there is no permanent damage; but in flying, doctors say, Gino risks further harm to his ears. It’s a risk not worth taking, especially with a ten-hour flight from Portland, Oregon to Amsterdam. Gino sends all, his deepest apologies–he was hoping he would heal in time. At present, Gino is on a strict diet and a regimen of herbs and vitamins. Doctors have grounded Gino for the next 60 days. Management and all involved are in the process of rescheduling the dates. We are aiming for late April, early May. All the January dates have been postponed. As soon as we have any updates we’ll let you know.

Beste Nederlandse en Scandinavische fans,
Gino moet zijn concerten met het Jazz Orkest van het Concertgebouw en met zijn nieuwe trio uit Denemarken uitstellen. Een paar weken geleden had Gino een ongeluk op het podium wat serieuze schade aan zijn gehoor toebracht. Een lid van de Gino Vannelli crew trok onbewust een kabel uit de microfoon terwijl Gino zijn binnen-monitor oortjes aan het testen was. De knal was so hard dat Gino zijn gehoor verloor voor een paar minuten, het kwam wel weer terug na een klein poosje en Gino ging gewoon door en trad op. Maar na een paar dagen manifesteerde de schade aan zijn oor zich. Niet zo leuk.
Gino heeft een keur aan dokters bezocht en gelukkig is er geen blijvende schade aan zijn gehoor. Maar vliegen is uit den boze want vliegen zal wel meer schade toebrengen aan zijn gehoor. En als Gino toch gaat vliegen dan neemt hij een heel groot risiko om nog meer schade te veroorzaken aan zijn gehoor. En dat is het allemaal niet waard, zeker om dat het meer dan 10 uur vliegen is van Portland, Oregon naar Amsterdam. Gino stuurt zijn wel gemeende verontschuldigingen aan iedereen want hij hoopte optijd genezen te zijn. Op dit moment heeft Gino strenge dieten en moet gedisciplineerde hoeveelheden kruiden en vitaminen innemen zodat het geneest op een natuurlijke wijze. Dokters hebben Gino bevolen om op de grond te blijven zeker voor de volgende 60 dagen. De managers en iedereen die erbij betrokken is proberen om de concerten later in het jaar te herschikken en nieuwe data te boeken. Ons doel is eind April of begin Mei 2012. GINO VANNELLI'S CD "NORTH SEA JAZZ 2002" WITH THE METROPOLE ORCHESTRA IS ALSO RELEASED IN THE USA WITH THE TITLE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER WITHOUT GINO VANNELLI'S APPROVAL!!! BEWARE OF THIS CD...

ANOTHER WORST NIGHTMARE FOR AN ARTIST IS THAT HIS MUSIC IS RELEASED WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION!!!
BEWARE!!! of the cd a night to remember, the purple one, it's not official released by Gino Vannelli. The official one is GINO VANNELLI & the Metropole Orchestra, the North Sea Jazz Festival 2002.
Be careful with the one you buy because we guess you want to support Gino Vannelli's work and not somebody who did nothing for this cd and only sells it for the money and only wants to make profit while Gino did all the hard work. SO UNFAIR!!! GINO VANNELLI deserves the credits and not some sneaky/creepy producer with the morals of a flea! That's our (B&T) personal humble opinion. The music is the same on both cd's but Gino Vannelli's original is so much better and the quality is so much more gratifying.
We ask Gino Vannelli fans and music-lovers not to buy this -a night to remember- CD not on eBay or at other auction sites, amazon USA is already deleting the cd and more will follow after the legal operations and investigations. The only things which helps in these matter is that people do NOT buy these kind of cd's it's all about money and not about dedication and devotion to music, GINO VANNELLI's music!!!

GINO VANNELLI'S VIDEO-CLIP "WILDERNESS ROAD" WAS AN INCOMPLETE VERSION THAT ACCIDENTALLY GOT OUT AND ENDED UP ON YOUTUBE!!!

THE WORST NIGHTMARE OF AN ARTIST AND THIS HAPPENED LAST WEEK IN GINO VANNELLI'S VERY BUSY AND STRESSFUL LIFE!!!
Everybody who loves Gino Vannelli's voice and music lived a few days in this great flow of a new superb Gino Vannelli song.... Somebody found it on YouTube and spread it by e-mails not knowing that he or she could hurt the feelings of an true artist who is so dedicated to His music and such a perfectionist that He cannot handle this unedited version on the internet. Also we the editors received this e-mail and thought it had to do with publicity to get us ready for this new Gino Vannelli song... The only thing we hear is a superb new GINO VANNELLI song and we go wild....................... With "we" we mean us the editors!
Nobody warned us and we do not have a facebook account, we only received positive and enthusiastic
e-mails with nice, very nice comments.
So if you have this very wrong version of Wilderness road please remove it and make Gino happy again so He can work on this perfect version this week without stress and in a healthy way. GINO VANNELLI fans know how to wait patiently because we know the results will be amazing and great! Greatness in Music and voice of which we all already had a little "inside view", in this very unfinished version of Wilderness Road.

1): The song is different for Gino and we love how he can create so many different styles and sounds with his music. Pure genius. This song is also playing in my head and that is "A Good Thing" for sure.
2): Thanks for posting the new video. It was a great surprise to see David Goldblatt on the keyboards. Very nice song with a "country" sound.
3): Nederlands/Dutch: GAAAAAAF nummer! Lekker Chill! Liefst een heel album vol met dat relaxte stijltje! Doei!

A BIG MYSTERY ABOUT A NEW GINO VANNELLI CD...

The editors e-mailbox is full with tons of questions in e-mails from all kind of countries because amazon dot com shows a new GINO VANNELLI cd which will be released on 18 October 2011... The editors know NOTHING about this so-called new GINO VANNELLI cd so we asked the managements and they started an investigation last week but till today NO clue at all... And it's a weird advertisement at amazon dot com because there is no tracklist and no nothing of information... The mystery goes on and on... We will write more when we hear more...
Even GINO VANNELLI Himself has NO CLUE and says: "Hell if I know!! Gotta be some mistake or miscommunication...or Napster bandit in the neighborhood."
This line says it all or this line means a lot but that's the editor's personal humble opinion!

THE SHOW WAS SHORT BUT SWEET!
A few short reactions from the audience:
(1): Barend & Trees, Atlantic City was short but sweet. Here is a picture for you to post. I will send more soon.

(2): The show was short because John Secada stayed on stage longer than he should have and Gino was waiting backstage. When you perform at a Casino you have a contract with a time allowance and John Secada took away some of Gino's time on stage by performing longer than he was suppose too. Gino being the true professional that he is came on stage and sang as many songs as the time allowed which was 9 songs. Gino was great but the audience wanted more and he was not able to be on stage and sing any more songs because of his contract. During the show he did not tell any of his funny stories and we missed that part of Gino. Gino did the best he could under the circumstances and it was an enjoyable evening.

(3): Hi Folks, Just thought I'd write and tell you about the Atlantic City Concert. Jon Secada opened for Gino. He was very good. Unfortunately though that meant Gino only did one hour and as we all know that is never enough of Gino! Learned another fact I did not know that Brother to Brother was to be called Appaloosa. Gino was in good voice, not very talkative. Sounded great. Did a Good Thing and it was wonderful. I am going to Canada to see him over Labor Day weekend so I hope the set is longer! Wish I could go on the cruise but since I would be a single, the price just isn't in my budget this year. Maybe some other day... Hope you are both well. Wish I could see him in Holland . Summer is going too fast! Thanks for all you do!

(4): Weren't so lucky this time! We need a follow-up to that GINO VANNELLI adventure, let's go to Canada in September! Crying now! This show was the ultimate fan challenge, way too short! The Man and His music were amazing though!

There are rumnours about a new cd in the Fall a kind of BEST of... from the 80's and the 90's and now... with new duets and new tracks from 2011. But you all know THE SUREST THINGS CAN CHANGE...
Gino is also working on a complete new cd with the vibes and touch of blues and country music, He is writing and producing and His work for the Italian singer Massimo Ranieri becomes a great result. We will hear when the album will be released because a duet with Gino is on this album. So we need to know when and where to order this Italian album!
In the near future concerts are Atlantic City in the USA and Windsor in Canada, November in the Netherlands and December the cruise and maybe concerts in Janauary 2012 in Europe... People and Gino Vannelli are working on new musical projects, like a big band project, to give us all more joy in life and richness in music... On the list are Scandinavia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Argentina and more... Lets hope the promotors book Gino Vannelli in all kind of different countries and on all the continents of this planet. This is the real official Gino Vannelli of The North Sea Jazz Festival 2002 - Gino Vannelli & The Metropole Orchestra This super great impressive concert of Gino Vannelli and the Metropole Orchestra! At last an official DVD! GINO VANNELLI DVD! Only released in Germany as far as we know and are able to know. But hey it's at Amazon so it must be easy to order from the whole planet. The editors could not believe their eyes when we saw this advertisement and they write that the release date is May the 27th 2011.

The editors received an e-mail from a Gino Vannelli fan in Germany who tells us that a CD will be realeased too but the editors could not find it yet at amazon Germany. So an official DVD and a CD, something the real true Gino Vannelli fans long for from the year of 2002 and now we can order it... WOW!!! Thanks/vielen Dank for the information to Jörg!

Yes - I met BOTH Gino and Ross after the show. I was surprised, however, when I met him. He looked very different than he did in Portland. Very handsome, of course, but physically smaller. His body proportions were different, too, and there was not a single trace of grey in his hair. Ross also looked much younger than in some of the photos taken of him. If I can think of any other details about the show, I will pass them on to you!

What a pleasure in life it is to be able to attend another wonderful show from Gino and his new band. It is the best therapy money can buy. The show was excellent and the acoustics in the theatre were very good. Perfect size theatre for Gino. Incredible sound.

(1): An e-mail from Anne who travelled from Seattle in the USA to Vancouver in British Columbia in Canada. Date of her e-mail Sunday 6 March 2011. Subject: Gino's concert in Vancouver tonight.
Dear Barend and Trees, I just got back from Gino's concert in Vancouver (March 5, 2011). From the very first chord to the final encore, the show was perfection! You published my short story, when I got to see Gino in Portland in October, doing the same concert, and let me tell you, what a difference a few months can make! October's performance was amazing but tonight's show was unreal. Gino's voice soared above the rafters with an ethereal quality that only a true master can achieve. The musicians were playing off of each other with skill and humor, and at one point, a duet between the new guitar player and bass player was so tight, it shimmered. Real ear candy. I loved all of the stories Gino told. He mentioned when he played in a nightclub in Montreal that it was grueling work - playing 5 sets of music a night 6 nights a week. I did not know he ever performed in that kind of band. Learn something new about Gino all the time!
You know, this past week has been very difficult for me, for personal reasons. However, after this show, my heart feels so much lighter and filled with joy. My troubles seem much smaller now. Gino's gift of music did this for me. Thank you, Gino!

Gino Vannelli redid "Rock Me to Heaven" as a kind of test to see what kind of record HE could make in one day with French Canadian musicians. (Julie La Montagne on Rhodes)!
GINO VANNELLI also sang a song called "Je Voudrais" (in French with Isabelle's band and Julie at the piano) Isabelle Boulay sang it on her last cd. Gino Vannelli did it as part of the French--English exchange.

I flew from Sydney Australia to see one of my all time favorite artists, and I was blown away!
Just one note, regarding the live sound. I am a journalist and specialist writer on professional audio, as well as a long term live audio engineer.
The mix was great, however too loud from get-go. This left the mix with nowhere to go. I wonder if anyone else thought this?
Otherwise a sensational concert, and I can only dream of Gino performing in Australia!

I am in UK and because I am such a Gino adorer, I keep coming across your site. It is SO difficult to accept that he never comes to the UK and all his work and concerts seem to be everywhere but here!
I will just say to you now that I cannot find any other singer, composer, performer, musician, poet and musical wizard that even comes close. I first heard him in 1978 when a dear Dutch friend of mine, sadly no longer with us, gave me a tape of Powerful People. A great part of my life was then spent without his music because my tape was played so much it broke. I am now 51 years old and have rediscovered Gino because of digital files etc. Oh my, what I have been missing! It doesn't matter what I hear of his, it has that unique, haunting, happy, vigourous, energetic, emotional, heartfelt, sensual, musical, poetic..........oh I could go on and on.........sound and atmosphere. I just can't leave it alone. I am very musical myself, with certain musical training and appreciation and I just LOVE THIS MAN.
I know Holland is one of his special places (you lucky things) and I have family there. Do you always keep his visits/appearances posted on your site? I will keep my eyes open. I'm so sad I have just missed him in June. Are his concerts always sold out......would I ever stand a chance of seeing/hearing him I wonder? Keep up the good work. *** Yes we were in Montréal of course and we found out on Friday that Uncle Vic was there with more Family! The concert was just great as usual, he started and ended so great! Our friend the manager of the best hotel there enjoyed the concert very much. He had a great time with Gino Vannelli experience. Thank you to Mr. Gino vannelli.

*** A bit of madness in Canada, GINO VANNELLI madness! The two concerts, especially Montreal, were quite special. The new band was killing. Not one mistake, but more importantly, a great groove and vibe on stage. Gino had so many autographs to sign, and demanding fans all over the place. But Gino's smile was untouchable and impressive! GREAT CONCERT! GREAT VOICE! GREAT BAND! We want more... We want more... thanks, merci beaucoup, VG

*** Greetings, Barend & Trees,
I had to write to you and let you know what an amazing show Don & I saw in Montreal last weekend.
It’s surprising how different each show can be due to the crowd or location. This show seemed to have more genuine fans (probably friends and family, too!) than in the casino locations where there may be more people just going for pure entertainment. As you may recall, I am a newer fan so I can’t compare the performances from years past. We had seen him for the first time in this same theater during the 2008 Montreal Jazz Festival which was not a sell out like this show was (don’t know why).
The audience last Friday seemed to made up of all true fans of his and there was not an empty seat in the house! (I checked on the theater and it seats just under 3,000.) We were lucky to get seats in the third row and had a wonderful view, the show was fantastic. He did the same songs as at the Niagara Bears Club show but included Black Cars this time. He also showed slides from his book and played a song with these recorded by his father as he did in Niagara, beautiful! He also had a few funny stories, one in French which we could understand quite well by way of his “acting”. What a wonderful experience it was to see this show, he was so appreciated by the crowd and they showed it profusely in their reaction.
We found out before the show here was an autograph session afterward, so after the show we swam quickly against the huge sea of people to get in line. We were so pleased to be able to meet him again, get his autograph and take pictures. (We could not take pictures inside the auditorium, so we didn’t.) He is such a genuinely kind person, we were elated to be in his presence! I wonder if he understands how he lifts so many people’s spirits. We were lucky to meet Ross again who was there at the autograph session, what a wonderful, proud family! We will never forget this weekend of bliss, but also feel the greed of wanting more of these to come! The show was GREAT & MAGNIFIQUE!!!!

One of the most moving moments of the show was when Gino started to sing "Living Inside Myself" When the audience recognized the song everyone was clapping and cheering.

Montreal loves Gino Vannelli!!!!!!!!!!! They say that French is the language of love, so you'd better know how to say I love you! Say je t'aime Gino Vannelli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were so many special and beautiful moments in this Gino Vannelli show.

Quelle belle soirée en sa compagnie hier soir au Capitole. La salle était vivante et le spectacle digne du Grand chanteur. Encore, j'en aurait pris encore. Il a eu la gentillesse de se prêter au jeu des photos et signatures après le spectacle. Il est le roi de la musique.

This was my 7th Gino Vannelli show. Each & everyone were great. This show started a little rough as the audio mix on the first 2 songs was HORRIBLE. We could not hear Gino's voice at all. I am still not sure what the 2nd song was. I am pretty sure it was "Stay With Me". It got better but was never perfect. Gino had the concert video taped so we maybe able to see it in our homes someday. He had told me he was going to tape it when we spoke earlier. I gave him my business card since I am a editor. I would love to edit the concert for him.
At the meet & greet after the show, I handed a copy of "Stardust In The Sand" to him to autograph. He looked up and addressed me by name, once again a thrill. By the way, the booth with the CD's, T-shirts, and books was manned by his son, Anton.

A WONDERFUL REACTION ABOUT THE GINO VANNELLI PORTLAND CONCERT 2010...

20 OCTOBER 2010... A DAY TO REMEMBER FOR THIS GINO VANNELLI FAN...
Dear Barend and Trees,
I just had to write today to tell you about the amazing show Gino and the Portland Band played last night in Portland, OR.
First of all, it was in a teeny tiny theater, with only 300 seats and - believe it or not - at least 20 seats were completely empty! I could not imagine how his show would not sell out! I feel so lucky to have seen him in such an intimate setting. Surprisingly, I did not see Ross behind the sound board, though. I did not see Gino's brother anywhere (although I was looking).
I was beside myself with excitement and had so much funt! I wished I could have stood and danced the whole night but I was in the 2nd row and nobody else was dancing and I did not want to block the view of other people. So, I simply never sat still in my seat and danced sitting down. (and looked like a crazy person, but I did NOT care!)
Gino's voice was amazing. His sound can reach through my heart and bring it alive like nobody else. And the band! Oh my! I have never, ever, in all of my days of being a singer and a music fan, heard such a tight and together band. They were the best rehearsed group and most talented musicians I have ever seen! And we all know that Gino Vannelli's music is not the usual "3 chords and a cloud of dust" rock and roll! It takes skill to play his songs well!
I also got a chance to meet Gino and have my photo taken with him after the performance - don't have the picture yet. I am sure I said something nonsensical and foolish (but I did ask him when we might expect some sheet music of his songs, and he said that he is working on it). Such a lovely man.
Finally, I was able to obtain an official set list of the tunes he and the band played. Thought you would like to share it with the fans:
Oh - he started the show singing just the first line or two of Powerful People and then went into:
