THE MUSIC HALL IN DETROIT

THE VERY FIRST CONCERT REVIEW BY KATHLEEN :

Kathleen's e-mail dated 7 April 2006 was already in the editors e-mailbox right after the concert in Detroit, our nighttime in Holland.. THANKS KATHLEEN and DAVID !!! Here we go :

Subject : Detroit April 7 Show

Ho Barend and Trees! Wow!!! Great show tonight at The Music Hall in Detroit. it was a good concert.
The concert started at 8:20. The first half ran 50 minutes, with a 25 minute intermission. The second half was 30 minutes, followed by one encore.

Here's the set list:

Wild Horses
Living Inside Myself
It’s Only Love
Just A Motion Away
A Little Bit of Judas
Wheels of Life

***Intermission***

Hurts To Be In Love
Brother to Brother
Venus Envy
I Just Wanna Stop
Black Cars

*** Encore***

People Gotta Move

The staging was minimal. Just the four musicians: Allen, Randy, Reinhard, and Sandin,...and Gino.

It was a nice mix of songs and stories...all new to me! As he introduced "A Little Bit of Judas," Gino told about the time he went to New Mexico to visit a shaman and be exorcised. Before he played "Venus Envy,"Gino read the lyrics to the audience and talked about how he came to write the song.

I also have to mention that the new intro to "Black Cars" is so different that it took a while before I recognized the song!!!

All in all, the band sounded great. I really do like the instrumentation which is a bit heavier and more experimental that past shows. Gino is in good voice. His rendition of "Brother to Brother" was terrific!!!

Afterwards, we hung around at the stage door and then went to the hotel bar, but didn't see Gino tonight. Randy and Allen were there for a while. We expect to see Gino after the show tomorrow night.

I will email photos on Sunday evening. I didn't take my camera tonight since my seats were 15 rows back. I've got front row seats for tomorrow night and will take plenty of pictures.

Riding on a Gino high!!!
Kathleen

Ho Barend and Trees!
Concert Gino Detroit Music Hall , April 8 2006

Off the Beaten Path...

For Emile and I it was the second time seeing Gino perform in the Detroit Music Hall. Last year we were already pleasantly surprised with the performance, but also with the intimacy of the theater. This time I felt it to be even more intimate than last year. The Detroit audience always surprises me. A happy, music loving crowd. They seem to have just that extra touch of love for music.

Gino seemed more relaxed and confident ( than last year) in his performance and there wasn't one song that had slipped the "magic jazzy touch" laid upon by Gino and his musicians. Between songs Gino amused the audience with jokes and funny anecdotes. I was amused by these 5 frolicsome guys on stage. They all seemed to enjoy themselves tremendously. Before the show had ended it felt like we had all come together as one big happy family, enjoying music and laughter.

Gino did two songs from his new album (these are the days) Venus Envy and IT's only Love. He left the stage with standing ovation.... and everyone still wondering what the heck ever happened with that wire....

After the show we met with Gino and his band, had time to talk some and make some pictures.

An e-mail from Angie M. dated 9 April 2006 with the subject : Gino Concert - April 8th - Music Hall Detroit, MI

Hello Barend & Trees, Just returned from Gino's Saturday concert at Music Hall in Detroit. Can't sleep because I am way to jazzed to sleep. The concert was fantastic! Gino and his band performed another excellent concert. He also received his fans after the show with autographs and pictures. His new CD was on sale at the concert. I purchased one because it's not even available yet here in the US. I was able to say "hello" receive a hand shake and two autographs on CD covers. Also shook hands with each of the band members and conveyed my sentiments on a great show. So excited that the new CD already autographed by GINO!

When I heard Gino's new CD was a more POP style, I was afraid he wasn't going to be true to his style. However, NO disappointment there! His new music is PURE GINO STYLE. I just love Venus Envy and It's Only Love which were played in tonight's concert. I can't wait to play the entire new CD. The new mix of the older songs give them a fresh sound but still have the excitement of the original versions and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing "A Little Bit of Judas". He spoke to the audience more this concert than in the past. He was comical and not as shy as in past years. He was very calm and comfortable and I believe the audience felt that as well. The audience was a little quieter than past concerts, but I was my usual screaming self making sure Gino knew I was out there and loving every bit of the evening.

I was truly in heaven and totally mesmerized by the man and his music. It was thrilling to have Gino back in Detroit so soon and hope he keeps coming back. The fact that there were two shows in Detroit proves how many fans Gino has in Detroit. Even though it is 1:00 a.m. in Detroit, I couldn't think of going to sleep without writing you an e-mail to let you know that Gino was the true "Master of Music" this evening.

Regards, Angie Mills

An e-mail from Ramona in the USA dated 9 April 2006 with the subject : Gino on TV in Detroit

Dear Barend and Trees:
I am sure you are working very hard and probably with very little sleep to get the reactions and pictures up on your website of last night and tonight's Detroit concerts----and I can hardly wait to see them.

Although I was not able to see either concert this time :-( I did happen to turn on the TV to Channel 2 FOX news for the last 15 minutes and got to see the last 5 minutes devoted to Gino and his pianist Randy!! Gino answered some questions and sang a little bit of his "lounge version" of "I Just Wanna Stop". As always, he looked and sounded good. Thanks Gino and thanks Randy. You both brightened my day! And thanks to Fox 2 news for having such good musical taste.

Also while surfing the web and looking for something else I saw a review for Gino's "These Are the Days" CD. It's in French which I don't understand but it looked like this lady was saying some good things! Also there is an interview in French (mostly French and a little English) and a pic if you do a search on the Rockdetente site. Perhaps you could translate it----- if it is not already on your site?

Thanks Barend and Trees for doing so much to keep all of us fans informed. I know I say it every time I write to you but I really, really mean it. And a great big thank you to all of the people who sent or are sending pics and reviews in for those of us who couldn't go. Everyone does such a good job it makes you feel almost like you were there! Much appreciation with the hope that some day I may get to meet you and thank you in person. Ramona

A third e-mail from Kathleen dated 9 April 2006 with the subject : Gino Vannelli - April 8 Show

Hi Barend and Trees,
The Saturday show was even better than Friday's show!! But that may be my personal perception because I was sitting in the front row and so was in HEAVEN!!! No...I truly think that the show was cleaner and tighter last night. The minor sound issues that we heard Friday night were resolved, and I think Gino and the band were more relaxed and at ease.

The play list was exactly the same as Friday, so you can see that they've got the the songs and the timing totally in sync for this tour. Gino did tell different stories and anecdotes between songs from Friday night. That's great for those of us at both shows, but fans who only made one show missed out on some wild storytelling!!

After the show conclude, Gino and band signed autographs and posed for pictures in the Music Hall's lower promenade for the 100 or so fans who waited. So I finally have my photo with Gino!!!

A group of us headed over the Hilton Garden Inn hotel where the band was staying and met in the bar for drinks and friendship and great conversation!!! It was nice to finally meet Deb, Cind, Judy, Mama Coco, and other fans who have shared their Gino adventures and photos online during the last few years. It was nice to see Mark and Dian, and meet Greg and Gail, Jackie and Dave, and talk to so many other fans.

Of course, it was a real pleasure to meet Sandin Wilson and his wife Dawn, Randy Porter, Reinhardt Metz, and Allen Hinds. The guys are friendly and engaging and truly appreciative of this opportunity.

My photos are being developed and so I will send photos later today. Yours, in Gino heaven!!! Kathleen

An e-mail from Lori B. dated 18 April 2006 with the subject : Gino Vannelli's Family

I saw AND MET (O MY GOD) Gino in Detroit on April 7th. It was heaven.
My only thought was that there are SOOOO many beautiful Gino songs in his repetoire, I wish he had time to play more of them. My fav, a request, would be "Fly Into This Night.." or "Valleys of Valhalla.." Anyways, I was wondering if you had any pictures of Gino with his family, or just of his wife and/or son. Just curious. Thanks. Love your site, Lori B. W.

An e-mail from R. Ted Hall, Jr. Atlanta, GA, USA dated 17 April 2006 with the subject :
Re: GINO VANNELLI

Nothing changed! He is still the consumate artist.

My wife and I came up to Detroit from Atlanta (as he never seems to get that far south anymore) and this was the third time I have seen him. The first was the kick-off concert for the Brother to Brother tour in Charlotte in 1979. He played to about 7500 which, as he stated form the stage, was his largest to date. Then saw him in a awful venue in Charlotte in 1992 (The Palimino Club), which was the basis of the Live From Montreal CD. His offbeat sense of humor was refreshing and my wife and I had the opportunity of meeting him after (see attached picture). The band was great, the unique arrangements of his past hits were refreshing. Now he needs to update his marketing- DVD, video for Venus Envy and tour in the south. A truly wonderful evening with the master! R. Ted Hall, Jr., ChFC, CLU

An e-mail from Terry in Pittsburgh, USA dated 18 April 2006 with the subject :
What a Way to Spend a Weekend!!!

Since everyone has pretty much covered the music, I'd like to give my take on the venues. First Detroit, then Chicago. Ken and I are fortunate that we were able to attend both. Having said that, we've decided that we prefer the "club" type venues, (HOB). Even though it's tough standing so long for us old farts. The Music Hall in Detroit is a beautiful theatre but the audience tends to be more "reserved" in this type of setting.

We had front row seats and were very pumped up (ok me). We started calling for Gino before the show started (ok me) and the woman sitting next to me got up and moved down a few seats! HaHaHa! Later on, Sandin tried to get everyone to stand and dance and when some people did (ok me), others sitting behind them, (ok me again) complained they couldn't see! It was still enjoyable, just a little intimidating.

Chicago was unbelievable!!! The energy in the crowd and on stage was unreal. I was just standing there watching people and smiling. There were guys singing and dancing, women crying, you wouldn't have seen that in a theatre! The balconies were full, with people hanging out of the boxes. I was afraid someone was going to fall over the edge! People were just so uninhibited, for good or bad!

My uncle went with us to the Chicago show, he's a huge fan from back in the day! He's been in ill health lately and Dawn (THANK YOU) asked Gino to sign a CD for him after she show. He did, wishing him good health and blessings and later I introduced him to Gino. He also spoke with all of the musicians at length, they were so gracious, as always!!! He was so excited and thanked me the rest of the evening. It made the whole trip so wonderful to see how happy he was to hear Gino and the band and to meet everyone.

We met so many new people in line waiting for the show. Some of them stuck around afterwards to see if Gino would come out to meet them. I had ordered 10 CDs off of Amazon and brought them with me, so I passed them out when Gino came downstairs so they could get them autographed. Trouble is I never got one for myself! Terry

THE HOUSE OF BLUES IN CHICAGO

Monday 10 April 2006 : in the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

An e-mail from Robert in Texas, USA, who travelled to Chicago with His Brother to see and hear Gino Vannelli live on stage. E-mail dated 12 April 2006.

Subject : Man what a show!!!! Dear Barend & Trees,
just got back from Chicago. Man what a show!!!! Gino never fails to blow your mind! We got to see the same set list from the Detroit show except they did a Great version of I die a little more each day. And there was no intermission.

Once again he has some of the best musicians in the world. And what a bass player, he looked like he was having so much fun. There was lots of high energy up on that stage, WOW! After the show they closed the curtain and no one came out. We tried to wait but the security ran us out. Bummer! I had taken the insert from These Are The Days hoping for an autograph. But what a show!! There was a soft part and I yelled out Rock Me To Heaven, and Gino got a smile on his face. Sure would have loved to hear that one and some more from the new cd but that's quite alright. My brother got some good pics would you like me to send them to you to put on you`re site? Just let me know. I am still high from last night!! Talk to you later. Robert B.

Two e-mails from Patti in New York, USA with 123 photos dated 12 April 2006 with the subject : pictures for you. And the second e-mail with the subject : GINO in Chicago 4-10-06 :

(1) : What a great show....thought you'd like to see what we all saw. Enjoy! - Patti -

(2) : I sent you a bunch of pictures from Chicago that I was honored to take of the band. It was a great show and I will write a review soon but I am not feeling well and wanted to get the pictures posted for you... The show was great but I really wasn't ready to travel and over exerted myself as much as I did. Plus I got slammed into the stage by a crazy jealous fan and she really hurt me. The guy next to be made sure she lost her place in front but she really slammed me into the stage and I was in a lot of pain. Once GINO came on, the pain faded but now I have some bruising and more pain. In the mean time...enjoy the pictures and share them with all the great GINO fans. He wants to see them on the site. I told him I would send them to you. I took over 500 of them and I sent you the best ones. What a show. - Patti -

A new slide show is added with 35 pictures !!!

A third and 4th e-mail from Patti in New York, USA dated 16 and 17 April 2006 with the subject : Chicago review :

(3) : Hi Barend and Trees,
The pictures look great and you are doing a great job! I enjoy seeing them on the site. Sorry I took so many but I just get carried away when it comes to GINO and the camera. Happy Easter to you 2 as well. Patti, Toni and Joyce

(4) : CHICAGO REVIEW :I arrived a day early to get some shopping done and get settled in to the HOB. The guys weren't staying there and I really didn't know where they were so I decided to go out walking and do some shopping. I ran into Alan walking along the Miracle Mile (Michigan Ave.) and he said everyone was getting some rest since they were all beat from the traveling.

I went to see if I could get into rehearsal and the HOB had their own security and it was tough to get in there while they were going through rehearsal but a few of us managed to get some all access passes and were aloud to stay and see what was happening inside. People were starting to line up outside the place now and it was getting exciting to see all the GINO fans waiting to hear the new material. I think I collected 15 business cards of fans that wanted pictures/info on GINO and the band.

The sound check was a little long but the sound was great! The HOB is a wonderful place to hear any band let alone GINO! It was really good to see the guys again and they all were as friendly as in Canada and seemed happy to see us "fans" that managed to stay fro sound check. I got to meet Sandin's wife Dawn who is just a sweetheart and we had some laughs and I got some pictures of her and for her as well.

I was able to get a photography "pass" that allowed me to take photos during the show since I saw a few people get their cameras taken away during the show. They were checking purses, ID's, etc...it was pretty tough security wise to get anything into this place! I settled in against the stage when the doors opened and just stayed there so that I wouldn't loose my place. Good thing since the place was packed! The guys came out and the venue went crazy! Everyone was screaming and GINO was instantly in rare form. He was moving all over the stage and really got into the songs. It was a great show. GINO even forgot the words to Venus Envy but he didn't need them. The new songs got great reception and the crowd was talking back and GINO was having a great time. The crowd was into everything GINO was doing and the band was really on.
I met some great GINO fans and have e-mailed a lot of people since I've been home.

The arrangements had been tweaked a little from the Canada shows but they all sounded great to me. I am so glad I was able to go and spend the day listening to such great music!

I tried to get a lot of pictures of each person in the band but my eye just naturally goes to GINO and the majority of the shots are of him...oh well. I did get some great shots of the other guys too but GINO is who I mainly focus on..the poor guy. I am surprised he can see after the show since the flash is constantly going off on him. Thank God he closes his eyes a lot when he sings. I'm waiting for the day when he gives me one of those looks as if to say...You're blinding me!!!!" Sorry GINO, I just can't help it. I love to share with the fans and let everyone experience the night through the camera. What a great night it was and GINO came out after a while and the few true fans who waited got their pictures and autographs they had waited years for. That makes the show for many fans. The fact that they can actually get something signed or get a photo...these people are touched forever by a simple gesture of time.&nb sp; That is an amazing touch that GINO has and half the time I get so caught up in getting photos for everyone else that I forget to get my own picture with him. Gino never ceases to amaze his fans and that is going to take him far. Some of those fans traveled a long way and waited for about 30 minutes after the show for a glimpse of him.

GINO was courteous and genuine and gave everyone what they needed time wise and I know he was tired. They did an hour and 45 minute show straight through without a break!

It was a great night and I met some great GINO fans who have experienced the magic of a live show. They won't forget this one and I tried to get everyone to buy a CD so they could get it signed too. Enjoy the pictures and until the next show.... Patti

Other e-mails from Robert in Texas, USA, who travelled to Chicago with His Brother to see and hear Gino Vannelli live on stage. E-mail dated 13 April 2006 with the subject : Re: Gino Vannelli Still Flying.

Dear B&T,
[1] : We waited as long as we could, the security was running everybody out. You really have pictures of him with the fans? I don't understand!! If thats's true that really makes me mad!

[2] : I just saw the pics Patti sent you. I just don't understand!! We stayed until they pushed us out the door. It just kills me that we missed out on getting to meet Gino!!!!! Great job on the pics, thank you for all your hard work. Talk to you later, Disapointingly, Robert.

[3] : I just don't get it. It really makes me angry because security was running everyone out. At least we got to see him perform. What a show!! Thanks, Robert.

An e-mail from Terry in Pittsburgh, USA dated 13 April 2006 with the subject : LOOKS GREAT - THANKS!!!

I didn't want to bother you yet!!!!!!!!!!! I saw that you are having computer nightmares! Also figured you were being barraged with emails. The shows were great, Chicago most of all. The venue was just more fun, everyone was standing, so they were in a very rowdy mood! Gino and band could really "cut loose." Sandin tried to get the crowd to stand and dance in Detroit but only a few did. Like me, and then people behind started to complain because they couldn't see! (No comments)! Oh the fans!!!

We visited my uncle in Chicago Sunday and most of Monday. He told us that he doing so well. He showed us all around town and we had a great time. When we told him why we were there he went crazy!!! He pulled out the music newspaper and he had Gino's name circled. He had been trying to find someone to go to the show with!

We ran into Sandin and Dawn walking around the city and introduced him. Sandin offered to put him on the guest list and give him a ticket. We said we wanted to get it for him but thanked him, he is such a great guy. He told us he would like us to come to sound check so he could talk to Gabe (my uncle) some more. Then he said that someone (?) had given out his cell# and all these fans had been calling him about tickets.

When we got to soundcheck... We didn't stay long, we wanted to make sure Gabe made it back to his apartment etc...

Seating was reserved and tickets were for standing only! Gabe had trouble breathing when he got there and Dawn had them seat him in one of the private luxury boxes! He sat there and watched us and waved. He looked like the queen, he was having a ball! Dawn came and stood with me. After the show she took a CD backstage to Gino and he signed it for my uncle, very personally for his health etc. He was ecstatic! Then they made us all leave. I had to wait downstairs for the CD and Sandin brought it down and said to wait that Gino was coming down. He did, and signed some things for some of the fans that waited. We waited until he was done, since he had already signed a CD for us. Then I introduced him to Gabe and thanked him for signing the CD. My uncle was so happy he could not stop talking about it the rest of the night. He was so emotional, he started to cry. Now I am.

I met a few guys in line waiting to go inside. Really big fans. It was great to see men for a change talk about Gino's music so much. I tried to fill them in as much as I could. I gave them your web address. I also told them to wait that I thought he would come down and they could at least shake his hand. But if they talked to him, I told them to tell him how much they like liked his music and all the things they told me. They all got to meet him and I had extra CDs so I gave them to them and Gino signed them. They were so excited. One guy I met is a Chicago firefighter, who is retiring in July. He said he is going to let his hair grown long again and spend his retirement following Gino around!!!

Ken said he wished he could go to a concert without all the "crazys" someday. I told him we'd have to get on a plane for that one! Terry S.

An e-mail from Matt in Chicago in the USA dated 19 April 2006 with the subject : Gino

Hello,
We had a great time and Gino gave an incredible & memorable performance.
The crowd was going wild through the entire show. Screaming, yelling and singing along. It was a full house and standing room only. The band sounded great, and Gino is better than ever!

I loved the new arrangements and the new songs sounded great. The crowd especially loved Venus Envy. Sadly, Gino didn't come out afterwards. I though I would have a chance to take another pic with him. My wife LOVED it, she had a great time, just like the other 1000 people there. All the best, Matt
PS - here are some pics form the concert, feel free to use them.

An e-mail from Donna in Texas, USA dated 23 April 2006 with the subject : Chicago

Greetings Barend & Trees:
We had a fun time in Chicago - it is a great American city with lot's to do and the people are very nice. We stayed at a hotel right around the corner from House of Blues. Gino's concert was fabulous and my husband, kind of, enjoyed it. This was his first introduction to hearing Gino live. He commented that Gino's voice is great, but the band was too loud, so he couldn't make out the lyrics. Gino's band is fabulous! He really seems to enjoy being with these younger guys.

I hope other U.S. cities will be added this year so I can see Gino again. I have not gotten my fill, but was thankful to make the chicago trip to see him.

Many thanks again for all your hard work on the website to keep all of us informed. And how great that Gino thanks you on the liner notes of the new CD. Take care of yourself and stay well. Your friend, Donna

An e-mail from Jarrette M., Oklahoma City in the USA dated 25 April 2006 with the subject : Chicago Review

My wife and I traveled from Oklahoma City to Chicago to hear Gino Vannelli at the House of Blues.
Chicago sites to see, and some great food at Tavern on Rush and Carmines were just a prelude to the show on April 10.

And what a performance it was!! We hadn't seen Gino live since he toured in Tulsa, OK back in 1979-80. We have most all his CD's, had just got These Are The Days, and were just getting so psyched in anticipation of the concert. And what a performance it was!!! Great venue at HOB. And the songs were played with the passion and energy that you come to expect from Gino. His bandmates were in great form. What a great crowd.

Hey, Greg and Karen, it was great to sit next to such devoted fans. And Wendell, my main man, thanks for taking care of us with the drinks!! It was well worth the trip to see one of the most talented musicians on the planet. Gino……you still have the magic that makes us crave you and your music so much. Thanks for a night to remember!! Jarrette, Oklahoma City

B.B.KING BLUES CLUB IN NEW YORK CITY

Wednesday 12 April 2006 : in B.B.King Blues Club in New York, NY, USA

Review (1) and pictures by Patti Jean :

Hello! I hoped to get this to you sooner, but have been trying to edit photos while at work!

I saw Gino last night at the BB King Blues Club here in NYC and, of course, it was incredible! Gino doesn't ever disappoint!! My husband worked at RCA in Toronto years ago and was the person who had to tell a very young Gino that they didn't want to sign him - that was in 1971. So last night my husband, Bill, made his way backstage before the show and got to meet and talk to Gino and they laughed about those long ago times. My husband told Gino what a huge fan I was and asked if he would let me come backstage to meet him. After the show we did go backstage and met with Gino before he went out to do a "Meet & Greet CD signing". Gino was gracious and warm and kind - as everyone who has met him says. I was so excited I forgot to give him your best wishes and remembered when we were already too far away - I am so sorry.

The show was amazing! - The band is incredibly wonderful and Gino's voice is in top form. He told lots of little stories and was charming and funny. The show lasted about 2 hours, with no intermission and 1 encore. Some of the older songs were done a little differently, but they were all fantastic. He and the other members of the band really seemed to be enjoying themselves and the whole crowd was up on our feet several times.

Here is the song list:

Wild Horses
Living Inside Myself
It's Only Love
Just a Motion Away
Little Bit of Judas
Wheels of Life
Brother to Brother
Hurts to Be in Love
I Die a Little More Each Day
Venus Envy
I Just Wanna Stop
Black Cars

Encore: You Gotta Move

I hope the photo's come through - I'm not too experienced at sending pictures by computer so let me know if you cannot open them or if I need to send them a different way..sorry but I sent almost every one I took! Hope to see Gino again - very soon! Very Best Wishes, Patti Jean

Hi B&T
How r u both? Jamie Jr. and I went to Gino's show last night @ BB Kings Blues Club in New York City. We arrived early -- Jamie was hoping to see Gino before the show....which he did, briefly. Jamie also had the opportunity to watch 'sound check'. I tried to send you the photos in one e-mail...but it didn't work....so I'm sending them little by little. We sat right in the front. BB Kings is an odd-shaped supper club...long narrow stage, long narrow room. But the crowd was great...and so was Gino. Jamie had the best time...as well as myself. Love his new material. Imported the CD from Canada in January, so Jamie knows every word.

Several of Gino's fans recognized Jamie from your website. Many others commented on how he looks like a 'young Gino'....which he thinks is terrific.

So...here they come...I also have 2 short video clips. Bye for now. Laura

Review (3) by DJ in New York City. Gino Vannelli's management gives a short report by e-mail dated 17 April 2006.

Caught the New York Show.
It was absolutely unreal. Gino never sounded better and the band was incredible.
Outstanding audience response. Gino seems to have stepped up to even another higher level of performance and musical excellence, if that is possible. Kind regards DJ

Review (4) by Jeri Van Dyke from Colorado, USA :

Hi Barend & Trees,
I just wanted to share my thoughts on the New York concert on April 12 at the BB King House of Blues. Great venue, I thought, and it was quite full. There was a lot of energy in the room and from the minute Gino took the stage, you could feel the excitement. He was very animated, telling stories and laughing. Of course, his voice sounded terrific and the band is awesome.

He was quite surprised to see me and since I was holding up the line by our conversation, he mentioned for me to wait for awhile so we could talk further. Once Gino went back stage, I thought it might be hard to get through security as they said I needed to be on a list, but he caught my eye, grabbed my hand and brought me back. We spoke about the tour (he really is so happy with his band), how grown up Anton has become and what I'm doing these days. He had a 6:00am wakeup call the next morning, so we didn't have a chance to really sit down long, but he mentioned there will probably be some CA dates (although I reminded him I now live in Denver), and he thanked me for coming.

It's always such a thrill to have him see me and say "Jeri...what are you doing here?" with a big smile on his face. Another great night of memories!!

Thanks again, Barend & Trees, for all you do! Jeri Van Dyke

Review (5) by Mary Lou in the USA :

Dear Barend & Trees,
AMAZING! SPECTACULAR! WONDROUS!
What a BIG show in the Big Apple.
GINO was in top form and in a very funny good mood. The band did an outstanding job. This is one of the best group of musicians for the music that is being played on this tour. Every band member has a special moment to shine and they do. Allen kills on Black Cars. Sandin gives everything a special touch. Luv his background on I Die and I Just Wanna Stop. Reinhardt jams on Brother to Brother Randy keeps the keyboard smoking.

GINO has reworked some songs and returned to the original versions of many of our favorite classics. Living Inside Myself and Brother to Brother filled the club with the wonderful sound and voice we have all loved for so many years. Black Cars is yet another version of this classic that will blow you away! A Little Bit of Judas is great to hear live. Venus Envy and It's Only Love are performed with humor and style. GREAT SHOW all around. After the show, hundreds of fans waited in line for the meet and greet. Everyone was patient and GINO signed CD's and posed for photos.

Many thanks to GINO and the band for a great evening of FINE FINE MUSIC!
All the best, Mary Lou

Review (6) by MLP in the USA :

Dear Barend & Trees,
New York was FABULOUS!!!!!!! GINO was in a great mood and very strong in voice. I noticed a big difference from the shows in Canada. The first four shows in Canada he was not feeling well. He gave it his all but when you are not feeling good it's hard. The band is playing very tight now. Practice and playing together has made them a very strong band. I love this band and think GINO does also. When I saw him after the show to tell him how much we loved the show and the band he said he was very happy with the guys.

Julie said it was "MY BEST BIRTHDAY EVER"!!!!!! We have a picture of her with GINO and the smile on her face says it all. It's always great to hear from you. Never feel like you are intruding or disturbing me in any way. I would be more upset if I never heard from you again. I am always checking out the site for the latest news. You do such a great job keeping us GINO fans up to date and I know I appreciate it more than words can say. I look forward to reading more reviews from the New York show. The crowd was great and I met more fans who couldn't say enough good things about GINO and the show. Thank God the people I travel with are kind, honest and decent. Have a great Easter Weekend! All the best, MLP

Review (7) by Laura dated 19 April 2006 :

Hi there...sorry the pictures are dark. We were right in the front row, off to Gino's left...it's very dark in BB Kings and I guess my camera isn't the greatest! We are enjoying them, though!! Not to worry...you have so many from other fans...and they are basically the same shots.

We really did have a great time at the show. Gino is so endearing...his stories are funny and interesting and the audience was so enamored by him. It's nice that he is so down-to-earth, especially taking the time to 'meet and greet' all his fans after the show(s). I also enjoy watching Jamie watch Gino. He sings along with Gino...every word to every song. My husband and I are so happy that Jamie appreciates this kind of music and not the 'music' that's out there today. Jamie seems to have an old soul -- he loves the 70's and 80's music.

I did take a picture with Gino...but would rather share the ones with Jamie...he's so much cuter!!!!

Again...thanks for your endless dedication...you make everyone happy....
Hope you are both well...take care and I look forward to hearing from you soon (whenever you have time). All my best, Laura

THE TRIPLE DOOR IN SEATTLE

Thursday 27 April 2006 : The Triple Door in Seattle, Washington, USA

An e-mail from Denise in Tacoma, Washington, USA dated 2 May 2006 with the subject : Gino at the Triple Door in Seattle

Dear Barend and Trees...
I just saw Gino in Seattle on Thursday night, and I am still on such a high! After 30+ years of being a fan... I feel like I have fulfilled a dream.

It was so much better than I ever could have imagined. I was in the front row, center seat... right beneath the man himself!!!!!
I took some pictures with my digital camera (didn't turn out so great... but I'm not tossing any of them... it's Gino!!!) I also took close to four rolls with a film camera, which I will be dropping off for processing today. Please let me know if you would like any of them... I would be happy to send them to you. I'll attach two from my digital to this email - feel free to use them on your site if you like. One is blurry - taken without flash, and the other one is clear, because when I change out my batteries... I forgot to turn off the flash.

I love, love, love the new album!!! I really hope that Gino gets some airplay here in the Pacific Northwest... he deserves it so much.
Take care...
Denise in Tacoma, Washington

p.s. Gino... in case you read this... thanks for the wonderful show, and making a dream come true for me!!!!

An e-mail from Teresa in Seattle, Washington, USA dated 27 April 2006 with the subject : Triple Door Marquee Photos

I wanted to send you a few photos I took this evening showing the Triple Door marquee and showcase with Gino's poster. As you can see, my photography isn't top-notch, but I did my best!

I'm bringing a coworker to the show who has never seen Gino perform, and I'm sure she'll have a great time because she is a big music lover! Of course I'll be thrilled to hear any songs he does, even if it's the same playlist as Portland, but it would be great if Gino dropped in a little surprise song, like maybe Storm at Sunup...or Omens of Love...or Put the Weight on My Shoulders...or The Joker's Wild...or... Yes, I know I sound so pushy! :)

OK, I'll write you after the show! Can't wait! Teresa

A second e-mail from Teresa in Seattle, Washington, USA dated 28 April 2006 with the subject : A Little Bit of Heaven in Seattle!

Hello B&T!
Teresa L. here with a quick report on the Seattle show for you. Gino must’ve brought the sun to town with him, because yesterday was a beautiful day--perfect for attending the Triple Door show. The venue’s Mainstage is a beautiful setting, and we were seated in a great location for the show, although not right up in the front row where I could get you good photos.

My friend Denise and I sat next to two sisters, Linda and Lori, who had not seen a Gino live performance before (neither had Denise), so it was great to see them all experiencing his artistry for the first time.

I won’t repeat the playlist because it was the same as Portland and other tour stops. All the songs were perfect, especially the two new songs and that wild Black Cars version he’s doing these days. Would like to hear more of the seven new songs because they’re all so good! Gino seemed a little shy at the very beginning, but he warmed up very nicely, with his usual funny stories and commentaries between songs. He also noted his lack of appearances in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest in general—something we all hope will change. The crowd was very appreciative and enthusiastic, and I hope Gino could feel the love from the Seattle fans.

He was dressed in black from head to toe and looked outrageously good. I think he’s discovered some type of reverse aging process! His lovely wife was also there, along with his brother Ross, who signed our Triple Door poster after the show. (I actual had two posters signed because I was going to send you one, but somebody with light fingers made off with one of them when my back was turned!) Gino and other band members (except I couldn’t track down Reinhardt) also signed, and Gino took photos with us as well.

We all ended up in the bar afterward where a band was playing Cuban acoustic dance music. Randy and Allen were in there, and Gino came through a couple of times.

Anyway, I’ll stop rambling and send you just one photo for now. It’s so late, and the photos are very dark. The room was too dark for me to get very good shots, so I’ll work on them tomorrow. Hopefully someone in the front row got some better ones. That’s it for now! Teresa L.

An e-mail from KC in Washington, USA dated 29 April 2006 with the subject : The entire Seattle experience was perfect, even the weather.

The entire Seattle experience was perfect, even the weather.
The hotel was only three blocks from the venue. I heard that there were some people there who had seen Gino perform in Canada last week. The crowd was enthusiastic and appreciative -- a good audience. The venue is nice; the food was very good; service was great. My friend Jack enjoyed it a lot and thought all the musicians were very good. He is a musician himself and travels to New York, etc. just to listen to jazz so he knows good music.

My friend Jeanne was there. Jeanne brought four other family members with her. My oldest friend in the world, Charlotte, was there. She had never been to anything like that and I think she thoroughly enjoyed it (and was amazed by Gino's energy). I believe it lasted one hour and 45 minutes -- without a break.

Ross Vannelli was there. I hadn't seen him for many years -- maybe 15 or more years. I heard a rumour that Gino might do more dates but I don't know for certain when that would be. There you have it! I thought it was perfect! Love, KC

An e-mail from Lynn in Marysville, Washington, USA dated 30 April 2006 with the subject : GINO!

GREETINGS.

Just listening to BROTHER TO BROTHER...."PEOPLE I BELONG TO"
My favorite song on that album. That is probably my favorite album as well!!!! But with Gino, THEY ARE ALL GOOD!

Gino made a huge impression on everyone in Seattle at the Triple Door! He will forever remain about the most humble and cordial big name personality I believe I have met! Staying for the pictures and conversations after the show makes a lasting impression.

THE NEW ALBUM IS TREMENDOUS! I BELIEVE THERE IS MORE THAN ONE HIT IN THAT ALBUM...

ALL THE BEST, Lynn Marysville, Washington

A third e-mail from Teresa in Seattle, Washington, USA dated 30 April 2006 with the subject : More Triple Door Photos

Well, B&T,
I tried to lighten up some photos but without much success. I saw the one you already posted on the site, and it actually looks kinda good, almost like I intentionally shot it to be dark and atmospheric like that with the spotlight on Gino. Hahaha, we’ll pretend I knew what I was doing. I’m sending you a few more just to show you that I tried my best. I guess I should’ve slipped the maitre d’ some cash to get closer seats!

I also included a shot of Denise and I (she’s the redhead; I’m the blonde) with Gino. At least you get one good shot of Gino!

I want to thank a nice man named Bill (a friend of Sandin Wilson and his wife) who took the photo of us with Gino (and also photos of Linda and Lori and a nice fan named Andy) using my camera. Thanks, Bill, wherever you are!

And mainly, I wanted to say to Gino what I didn’t say after the show (I always get a little tongue-tied!), which is how much we all appreciate him and the band coming to Seattle and giving us the gift of a perfect night of music! Unforgettable! Teresa

Hi Barend and Trees,
Yesterday evening I went to a Gino Vannelli concert for the very first time ever. The concert was in the River Rock Casino Theater in Richmond (near Vancouver). It was just in 1 word fantastic.

He played many old songs but also songs from His last cd. His voice was very, very good and the band was also super fantastic. Absolutely the best concert I have ever seen. You have created a very good web site, THANKS. Jos de Groot.

[2] : An e-mail from Jim M. in Canada dated 23 April 2006 with the subject : Gino Vannelli

B&T,
Just a quick review of Gino's show last night in Richmond. I had never seen Gino Vannelli before, and whilst I have read certain comments about previous shows, I was going with an open mind. By the time Gino came on stage he already received a standing ovation. After a couple of numbers I was thinking "wow"!!! He continues to talk and joke with the crowd between numbers, and you couldnt help but like the guy. Gino is the best and the show i saw was really the best show a man could see! His band was dynamic and great! Thanks GINO. There are no words to describe this concert. It was the best I've ever been to. Jim

[3] : An e-mail from Russ H. in Canada dated 24 April 2006 with the subject : Gino tickets...

Hi there!
Just got back last night from the 1400km return trip. The concert was fantastic and well worth the trip!
He’s an amazing and gifted musician and his band are as good as they get. In my view his voice is much stronger now than even his best recordings.

My wife met him briefly afterward, got one of the song lists from the stage autographed, a photo (the picture is fuzzy though due to bad light…) with him, and she even gave him a bouquet of roses at the encore. He is humble and respectful and that’s such a nice thing to see too.

He played for close to 2 hours without a break and then hung around and met and talked with people for a half hour or so. He told stories about many of the songs before playing them. My absolute favorite song of the night was Brother to Brother which was probably 6 or 7 minutes long and featured some amazing instrumental sections and really showcased his bands’ musical talents as well as his voice. This song should be recorded and put on an album and in my view could be a top 10 hit if released again!! By the way, I managed to sell the tickets to the Vancouver show on eBay, so that worked out too. We’d love to see him again, and if you hear of more concert dates this year, please pass them along. [5] : An e-mail from Norine in Winnipeg, Canada dated 3 May 2006 with the subject : Calgary Deerfoot Inn Concert

Hello B&T
I am back! And I want to tell you what happened.
I had the most wonderful weekend in a long time. Here are the events.

Last week I went to pick up my special gift for Gino from a guy I know who has a local Italian band called "Ritmo Misto" meaning Mixed Rhythms. I said that I am going to see Gino in Calgary. Well he was so excited that he gave me his CD and asked me to ask him if he would consider coming to Winnipeg. I said I will talk to him.

I arrived at the place on Saturday night around 5:30 p.m. I had my dinner there, but I was so excited that I couldn't finish my dinner. Then I was walking around to make sure that I knew where the doors were to the theatre and washrooms were. When all of a sudden I heard a bunch of women screaming from the lobby. I knew then that Gino was in the house. I walked very fast to the lobby and saw a group of women hovering around him wearing blue flapper dresses with blue boas and some kind of hats. I wasn't sure what group this was, but one of them asked me to take a picture of them with Gino, which I did. There he was Gino in the flesh. My heart was thumping like a drum. When he finished the picture taking, I walked up to him, shook his hand and said "Mr. Vannelli, my name is Norine and I am a big fan of yours." He smiled and said thank you. Then I said, "I flew in from Winnipeg just to see you in concert." I pulled out my gift for him and said, "I have a gift for you." I gave the CD to him and his eyes just popped and I told him of this band in Winnipeg who does their original songs in Italian with a latin beat. I also told him that this was not an attempt to get someone discovered. He said that he never thought of it that way. I told him that I like to give the gift of music to you just as you give your gift of music to me. Then, I said that I am representing B&T tonight. I will be giving a review of your concert. He said, "You mean Barend & Trees!" Again his eyes popped. I said yes.

By this time Reinhard came by and I asked if I could get a picture of Gino. Well I got a picture of Gino and Reinhard too. Reinhard is quite a joker. He was trying to play a joke on Gino by putting his two fingers in a V shape above Gino's head while I was trying to focus the camera. I said, "Now, now, none of that stuff." Gino just laughed. Then I asked Reinhard to take a picture of Gino and me. I was just to go beside Gino on his right side, when Gino said, could you please move to my left side. I said sure and I did. After the pictures I asked Gino if he would consider coming to Winnipeg in the near future and that it has been about 15 years since you have been there. He said he knows it has been a long time. I said I hoped it wasn't anything about the city that has kept him away. He said no. There wasn't an opportunity to come. (Well, I should try to make an opportunity). LOL.

While I was waiting for the show to start, I was approached by this woman named Heidi Hayes, who was asking me a lot of questions about Gino. I gave her your website address and said you will be in Gino Heaven when you go there. (If you read this Heidi, Hi from Norine and send me an email, OK.) I invited her to sit with me as she has never seen Gino in concert. We shared some stories on where we come from and where we are going. She was a very sweet lady and I hope to keep in touch with her.

WOW!!!! What a show he put on! I got a front row table. I wanted to take more pictures, but the security guard asked me to put away my camera. Shucks, I could have had some great shots from the front. (Oh well, I got to meet him though.)

He sang the following:
Wild Horses, Living Inside Myself, It's Only Love, Just An Emotion Away, Little Bit of Judas, Wheels of Life, Brother To Brother, It Hurts To Be In Love, I Die A Little More Each Day, Venus Envy, I Just Wanna Stop, Black Cars and for an encore, People Gotta Move. He got all the people up dancing for the last one including me. I also sang with him on every song he sang from the table. I didn't care who heard.

He read out the lyrics to Venus Envy and then proceeded to tell a story of someone he knew that would get plastic surgery almost every week. Then he sang Venus Envy. He also mentioned about the new Prophecy of Judas Iscariot before he sang A Little Bit of Judas. He mentioned about his son Anton who asked him why he wrote It Hurts To Be In Love. He said you will find out when you're older. Gino tells a story like he was just telling it to you.

While he was taking a sip of the water of life, I shouted out "Wheels of Life." He said, "I can take that request." And he started to sing it. WOW! He took my request.

After the show, I waited for him to come out because I realized I forgot to have him sign my "These Are The Days" CD which I brought with me. Well, my patience was rewarded. He came out to greet fans and I stood in line to meet him again. When it was my turn, I said, "It's me again." He smiled and I asked him to sign my CD. I gave him my business card with the name of the CD that I gave him on the back of it so that he would not forget who gave him the CD. I told him that I am taking jazz voice lessons and then he GAVE ME A HUG! I didn't want to let go, but I did and I stood there for a second trying to keep my composure. I was full of tears of joy.

Then I left the theatre in such a high. I was walking towards the lobby when I saw Allen from the band. I approached him and said hello and introduced myself. I asked him how he liked working with Gino. He said it was good, but he is such a perfectionist. I said, I heard about that. I asked him also when Gino will be going to Europe. He said he wasn't sure but sometime in either July or August.

Then this other guy comes to talk to Allen. I am not sure who he was, but I recognized him from a picture on your website. I think it may be Gino manager, but I am not sure. He said that he is meeting Gino and the others in the bar for some drinks. Boy, was I tempted to go to the bar, but it was getting late and I thought I should get back to my hotel. In the taxi ride back to the hotel, I was just so happy.

I do have pictures for you but I will have to send them later. I have attached my CD he signed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gino if you do read this, you really made my weekend. It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope you come to Winnipeg in the near future. I hope you like the CD that I gave you. You were so meek, respectful and kind towards me. I love your singing voice as well as your speaking voice--so gentle, gentle like a soft breeze against my face--so refreshing. Thank you again for such a great evening. I wish you and your family, your brothers and your mother all the best. If you do come to Winnipeg, I would be delighted to give you a tour of the city and if you need any help, please don't hesitate to give me a call. Ciao for now
Norine

Gino at the Triple Door

Hello You Two,
This is Teresa L in the Seattle area. Haven't talked to you since the Portland shows--sorry, but I've been so busy with personal issues. I've been meaning to review Gino's new CD (ordered the Canadian import from Amazon a while back), and I will get around to that soon. I do love all the great new songs a lot (including the two I heard live in Portland). There's no end to this man's creativity and talent!

So...of course I bought tickets for the Triple Door in Seattle this Thurs., and I'll do my best to get some photos. Can't make any promises, but I'll try. Can't wait to see him live again! Teresa

p.s. Congrats to you on the credit Gino gave you on his CD. Well deserved!

I would so love to tell Gino you send your best regards - And give him mine, too! I've been a "rabid" fan for over 30 years. With each new album I enjoy Gino even more. I was able to buy the new cd from Canada and have been listening non-stop since I got it a few weeks ago - even the old songs sound wonderful. Seeing the show tonight is all the more sweeter since I've had to miss so many concerts in the past few years. I will send my photos and my review first thing tomorrow. Have a wonderful day/evening? Gino in New York

Hi B&T,
I was looking through your website and I noticed that Gino is performing in New York on April 12, 2006.

I'll do my best to make some time to see him.
This looks like a very good venue, it is right in the middle of New York close to Times Square. The only thing that I don't like is the "first come first served" seating. I understand that this is a bar/restaurant and they want to sell food and spirits, so you just have to adapt to the situation! (It is what it is!) I always hoped that he would perform in the Beacon Theater, but this is a good second.

The only advise that I can offer to people who have never been to New York before is to avoid taking a car into the city. Parking is VERY expensive. You are much better off with trains, busses, taxis and your two feet! This location is a 15 to 20 minute walk from Pennsylvania Station, less from Grand Central Terminal. It is 5 minutes from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. All buses coming into the city go there. I will probably take the train into Pennsylvania Station. You do NOT need a car in New York! CB

Gino, yesssssss Gino Vannelli

Hello Barend & Trees!
I visit your website daily, so I was alerted of Gino's US dates as soon as you posted them. My husband and I will be attending the Chicago House of Blues show!

I am very excited; this is a big step for my husband - he is not a Gino fan but is coming along with me anyway! We will have fun in Chicago and who knows, maybe he will be hooked after the concert. My husband loves opera, so if you could put a word into Gino to sing one of his Canto songs at that concert, well, that would be fantastic!

As always, many thanks for the countless hours you spend to keep Gino's fans in the know. This is a very exciting time for us and Gino as he launches his new CD. Greetings from Your friend, Donna McDoanld

Gino Vannelli

Hello my Friends
I hope you are well. YES, I have my tickets already and I cant wait!!! This will be my wifes first time seeing Gino in concert and she is very excited. We may even travel to Detroit for the concert there, but im not sure yet. Thank you for thinking of me. Maybe some of our friends will come to Chicago and join me as they did in 1999. Hoping to see Judy and Arlene (Mama Coco). I have a question; Do you know if he will be changing some songs in the concert? I'm a little disappointed that it is still pretty much the same songs he's been doing for a long time and I thought he was supposed to have a new show for this tour. Im not complaining, but I would LOVE to hear some songs he hasnt played in a while. I will send you some pics of the show if I'm able to take some. I'll also send you my review! Thanks again, and please stay in touch. Your friend, Matt

Re: Gino coming to Detroit!!!

Hi Barend and Trees,
I got the best available for both shows. For the Friday night, apparently the first 14 rows were reserved, maybe for the Music Hall subscribers, or maybe for the promoters. So we're in Row M. But, for the Saturday night show, I'm in Row A, the very first row!!! So I'm very happy about that!!

The countdown begins....

I just bought my tickets for DETROIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOPPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1ST ROW - CENTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saturday night. I'm not sure about Friday. Might just land in town and see what happens. The hotel is all sold out! And it is the ONLY hotel around. The others are around 10 miles or so away. I'll worry about it later.

My Husband would rather go there than Chicago, like I said, he wouldn't miss work. He said HE WOULD HAVE TO SLEEP WITH GINO to pay $350 a night for a hotel!!! We would probably stay with my uncle who lives a few blocks away on the same street as the HOB. But we'll see!
LET THE BEDLAM BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CANNOT wait for April 10th.

B&T
I was looking on your site to see if there are any song lists from the Canada shows. Do you know if he will play any new songs other than It's Only Love and Venus Envy? It will kill me if those are the only 2 they play. And it will dissapoint Suzanne, because she absolutely loves The Great Divide and Rock Me To Heaven. I appreciate any info you might have. CANNOT wait for April 10th. Thank you. Love, Robert.

Barend and Trees,
Yes, I found out on your website, went directly to the booking from your link and purchased tickets!! I wish I would have looked a couple of days ago!! But I think my seats are pretty good for both nights!

You are Dear Hearts for continuing with all the info...I get on your site every time I'm on the computer, for sure!! I know what you do is expensive, as well as time consuming, so I would not be hurt or mad if you don't use my pictures. I figure you will use the ones that people can see best..and I know my pictures were not the best quality.

I will again try for photos in Chicago and Detroit. You can be sure that if I get any opportunity to get "goodies" and whether or not you keep them personally or use them to auction, I will forward them to you, and what you decide to do with them is good by me. I hope it helps you, and/or adds to your personal collection! Again, hugs and kisses to you, be well my friends, Judy.

A word from the Editors : See the promo Gino Vannelli postcard and ENJOY !!! Front side - Back side

An e-mail from Terry in the USA dated 13 February 2006 with the sucject : Thanks for making MOST of my "wishes and demands" come true!!

No, I DID NOT KNOW until you told me!!!!!!
I see the ticket sale starts tomorrow at 10:00 am. How can they be selling tickets to all his shows under 2 different spellings????????????? WHAT MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You would think Gino would demand that his management make sure they spell his name correct! Anyway, Ken said he would rather go there than Chicago, since he had such a good time last year, it's closer, and it's the weekend! Of course I said, "It's on the way to Chicago, we could go to all 3 shows." Luckily, it was over the phone!!! I'll let you know the outcome. Terry

An e-mail from Robert in Texas, USA dated 11 February 2006 with the sucject : Gino show!!

Dear B&T,
I CANNOT tell you how excited I am right now!! I just purchased 2 tickets at the House of Blues for the Gino show. I have a friend that lives in Chicago and he is going with me. I wish I could afford to stay in that hotel, but $379 a night is a little high. Man, I can't wait!!!!!!! Talk to you later, Robert.

An e-mail from Karen in the USA dated 9 February 2006 with the sucject : Hi from the USA

Hi Barend & Trees ...
I've been a poor correspondent and want to say hello to you ... and tell you ... I think I will be able to go to see Gino's concert in Chicago! You included my email address in your email with his tour data ... which included :

"ATTENTION !!! CHICAGO Saterday 11 February 2006 start the tickets sale for this fabulous Gino Vannelli concert in Chicago at the House of Blues on 10 April 2006 Go to this link and read.... BE prepared for Saterday 11 February 2006 !!!"

and ..... even though I won't be able to make it to the Toronto Concert ... I am looking forward to (possibly) seeing him in Chicago .. and am very excited about it. Every day is different .. difficult for me to make plans because this MS is different each day .. but ..... for now .... I'm planning on planning to see him there ...

I wonder if I'd ever be able to actually shake his hand or tell him how much of an impact he's had (his music has had) on my life? Ahhhh well .. it will be wonderful to see him / hear him .. his music ... and everyone on his tour ...

I apologize for not having written in such a great long while .. it's cold and snowy here .. my health is okay .. I'm an "empty nester" now .. my son moved out last summer ... I have a friend a very dear friend who is also a neighbor of mine .. he told me that going to / driving to / Chicago to see the concert is something he'd like to do ..too .. he'll drive us there ...

won't it be great?? I'll get to actually see him live and in person and hear him .... in April .. . tell him haha that he'll know who I am .. I'll be the one with the cane .. to help me stand/walk .. I'll be the one with the great big smile on my face. I also managed to gain back the weight I lost .. am now a whopping 102 pounds ... just right for my 5'3" stature ... I'm really excited ..... can you tell?? Love from your friend in the USA
Karen
