We tried to translate this Dutch interview as good as possible but we are no experts. We only want to share Gino Vannelli news, which we find in our own country and thru the internet, with the world, so you all can see what's happening around this planet !!!

We bought this glossy magazine called AVANTGARDE FOR Euros 3.25 And we only bought it because of this small Gino Vannelli interview... This magazine is very famous in Holland and in Belgium and read by trendy people who have good jobs and who like the life of glamour and glitter and we think the 30 + people are the biggest group of people who buy this glossy magazine......But all we write is our own humble opinion...... This is nr.6 June 2003. B&T in Holland.

5 Minutes
with
Gino Vannelli

Gino Vannelli was THE ladykiller of the 80's.
Who did not hang in the arms of their sweetheart during those years when they played :
"It Hurts To Be In Love"?
On his new cd CANTO he sings in English, Spanish, Italian and French.
The latin lover is back.

How did you learn to get all those languages under control?
"I have a coah who is very, very and unbelievable strict. I was only allowed to go to sleep if my accent was perfect. And that's okay with me because if you have such an ambitious plan, like mine, you have to prove yourself and fulfil expectations. To scamp my work is not my style."

What do you mean?
"I know I have my voice and I trust my voice, so you can take things easy. I can sing flawless but I can murder or butcher a song because of my wrong pronunciation or a stupid accent. CANTO was meant to be perfect."

Did the writing of the songs go easy?
"It went on and on... I wrote 'The Last Days of Summer' in 1 and a 1/2 day, and 'Mala Luna', a track of more than 10 minutes, was ready in a day. It all came of itself."

Is there a difference in depth between the English and the non-English songs?
"Yes a little bit. English songs are less intense, there is always a kind of reserve. When I sing in Spanish or Italian I go off and than it seems to be more righteous as in the English language."

Are you still that good singer?
"Yes, my voice still works and that is a soothing thought. When I recorded the 'Dea Speranza' song, I had to cry because the notes came out so heavenly and so easy. That is a blessing".
