GINO VANNELLI & HIS DUO-TRIO CONCERTS IN EUROPEGino Vannelli meets Michiel Borstlap after a concert by Michiel Borstlap and His Trio in Holland and it clicks. They decide to work on a completely new musical project... Two Masters working together gives electricity, power and new plans for duoconcerts in 2007 in Holland, Italy, United Kingdom and Montréal in Canada... Montréal already happened at Sunday evening 17 December 2006 in the Musimax studio where they recorded a 1 hour tv show which will air in Canada for more than a million people... The date of broadcast will be announced soon... When Gino is ready mixing this Musimax show. A few Gino Vannelli songs they perform live in a way you have never ever seen and heard before: Rock Me To Heaven, These Are The Days, Wild horses, Right Where I Am and much, much more... From September up to 17 December 2006 Gino and Michiel rehearsed and all those rehearsals were very powerful and Gino Vannelli's inspiration grows bigger and wider and more writing comes out of Gino Vannelli's fingers and heart. Must be the Dutch Amsterdam air... Fall Flower, In The League Of Judas, Knight of the Road and Don't give Up on Me They play for an audience for the very first time as a duo on the ANWB Christmas party on Wednesday 13 December 2006. Michiel Borstlap plays the piano and Gino sings "People Gotta Move" of course, the song the ANWB uses in all their commercials on radio and tv and they use it already for the second year... So we are looking forward to these great duoconcerts and when we know or hear something we will write it down on our Gino Vannelli tour data and information web page...

An e-mail dated 12 February 2007 from Enrico C. in Italy who is very impressed by Gino Vannelli's concert in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy. Grreeaaaaatttt.... Gino super overtime... I was on the show of sunday evening in S. Benedetto del Tronto - Palacongressi a theatre with great acoustic. I come thru 350 km from my town with my three friends (Gianna, Antonio and Fabio), lovers of Gino music. The Show start on 21:30 with technical trouble on ears and microphone of Gino, but Gino kidding with the public, nothing problems he laughs; after 10 minuts all ok: he was near the piano sitting on a chair and sing a new fresh tune (Gino don't say title), after ever piano-voice: "people gotta move" medley with "appalloosa"; coming the band (drums and acoustic bass, great boys!!!!) Black Cars; "These are the Days", (I cry of emotion during these piece;) after SUPRISE!!!!!!!Gino sing new tune of his new solo record, next moths exit and called "KNIGHTS ON THE ROAD", one tune called "Don't give up" , and other four new tracks, that Gino sang with a paper in hand, because are not finish GREAAAATTT, the new songs are in the mood of "Slow love", after maked a great emotional version of "brother to brother", supeer-super-super; after "wild horses", a new version of "people gotta move", I just wanna stop" super !!!!!! and when Gino ended, the peolple, around 300, was very mad and come back to sing and crying version of "parole per mio padre". After the show Gino meet the fans ..... great I embrace him and sign my copy of Brother to brother cd sleeve....I'm sure that I forgot some tracks because today I'm very madness of Gino..... An e-mail dated 12 February 2007 from Marco in Italy with a reaction about Gino Vannelli's live concert with Michiel Borstlap in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy. Hi! Both concerts were sold out!!! Great link! Thanks! As a matter of fact, the daily paper of San Benedetto was very committed on giving all the information about the Gino concerts. Gino has thousands of loyal fans here in Italy (also considering the fact his grandparents were italians) but the Master has toured few times here and always in big cities (basically Rome and Milan), so the smalltown people are getting crazy when such a talented singer comes around. Been trying to get more information about the DVD for the hospital of San Padre Pio (remember the Venice concert in 2005?), but nothing is in progress so far, and the official website has never been updated since....what a pity!!! Marco
A SECOND e-mail dated 13 February 2007 from Werner and Edith in Germany who are just back home from the Gino Vannelli music-heaven in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy. They try to get back in real life again...
Hi friends, They dont want to have photographers during the show and so we kept the camera inside the bag -of course. A few people didnt follow the advice and had some discussions with Ginos Management the Club Manager and the security people. Finally everybody accepted it. We met many people from Italy who made a far journey to come to San Benedetto. All the nice and friendly people from the Hotel and the Club -we found new friends. Sandra, Lucia, Allessandro. Scuse me i´m still in heaven. Werner and Edith A beautiful and emotional new Gino Vannelli/Michiel Borstlap concert review is posted underneath now written by Giovanni C. dated 20 February 2007... A Gino Vannelli/Michiel Borstlap/Frans van der Hoeven/ Erik Kooger slide show with 23 pictures 13 from Giovanni C. in Italy!!!! 8 Pictures from Werner R. from Germany. 1 picture by Luca Fiaccavento. The editors are working on the HTML for the slide show right now... At last here is the slide show (23)
I was beside Gino in the hall of the hotel above the Jazz Club, just the last minutes before the show!!!!! A dear friend of mine from Rome was near to me. Gino smiled to us and said "ciao". He was relaxed and very concentrated. After the show, me, my wife, my sister and my friends waited for Gino at the same hall. But again I couldn't find the courage to tell him some interesting thing. I was too excited. Just the time for some signs and some photos (sic! Sic!.) I came back home but my heart remained there for a week.
Gino gaves us four new songs, one of these sung for the very first time, I think the title is "Evermore in love (with you)".. "Don't give up" is my favourite. I'd never believed that one day I'd seen Gino so near, before and during a concert (after the concert it just succeded, in Rome, twice, in Gubbio, twice too). Fifteen years ago it seemed impossible. It's a dream. I'm still in a dream. Ciao, Giovanni from Pesaro, Italy. P.S. Yet sorry, it's the first time that I write in English. what a hard work!!!! Now you can understand why I never wrote you before now!!! The next I'll do it in Italian. can I??? I send you one photo about Gino and me clicked after the concert! I'll send you other zipped photos by my work-email later....Ciao! An e-mail from sky in Italy dated 11 May 2007 with the subject: A bid for Gino Vannelli auction number 62...
Hallo, After hearing Gino songs live, my son decided to go to birth before the natural time. The boy is in good shape and loves to hear "slow love", my wife is using this tecnique when the boy cries so much...
Hope to win the bid, an make my Brother an happy man.
Thank you for supporting Gino work.

Ça me chavire complètement. English: Hi Trees, Hi Barend, Please find here my own translation of my comment, regarding Gino at Musimax. If you have time to read it and correct it before you will put in on your web site, it will be appreciate. I’m not sure if my English is o.k. It is with much enthusiasm that I listened the Concert tout en piano at Musimax... Concert of Gino Vannelli accompanied by Michiel Borstlap to the piano. Wow! I must say that I did not know this pianist but I see that he had a very great talent and a great sensitivity. In the interviews, we can see that these two men have much admiration one for the other and that creates a remarkable and palpable complicity in concert. A magic chemistry! Once again Gino astonished me with its new interpretations of his old songs. Always able to renew itself, it is incredible! I acknowledge that the new version of Brother to Brother is very very very interesting. Personally, I prefer it than the original one! Nothing less! What is marvellous with this duet (piano and voice), it is that there is much place for the voice. It is not the orchestration which moves us, but all the vibrations of the voice, quite simply, and Gino's voice is still perfect! Really! He will seek some notes so carefully, in a breath... That capsizes me completely. I enjoyed this concert and the interview too. It' so pleasant to hear Gino speak in French, he has a charming and typical accent of Italian people living in Montréal. He would be said that he lives still here... I do have only one regret... to have not been present in the studio! Hélène M. An e-mail from Marilyn in Canada dated 16 February 2007 with the subject: Concert Pop tout en piano
Bonjour Barend and Trees, It was a great Monday night on Musimax with the Concert Pop tout en piano. Gino, accompanied by Michiel Borstlap, sang 8 songs: Right Where I Am (he played keyboard) People Gotta Move, Wild Horses, Brother to Brother, Rock Me To Heaven (he played keyboard) Parole Per Mio Padre, These Are The Days and I Just Wanna Stop. Between each song, Gino talked about his life, his music. At 12 years old, when he saw a drummer, he knew that's what he wanted to do. At 17, he had this girl-friend (a "blonde" as we say here, because he spoke French from time to time, with a charming accent, which was very nice.) The "blonde" didn't want him to go to the music business, she wanted to get married. He said no, no, I'm gonna be a big star! She said you're dreaming, go to college and get a good job! He said, I can write a "hit", in 10 minutes, so he wrote "People Gotta Move" and she didn't like it very much! Very funny! He talked about the first time he met Michiel Borstlap at a concert in Holland that Michiel did. He said that he looks for artistry and Michiel has that artistry. They have co-wrote some things together and the song "Don't Give Up On Me" will be on the next album. Gino said when you have a great chemestry, it's easy and fun co-writing. They also put a group together "The Leage of Judas Iscariote" with 3 other Dutch players as a quartet, that he is singing with and they are doing various concerts in Europe. When Gino sang Parole Per Mio Padre, he sat down on the stage, very, very close to the people who were listening quietly, religiously. He talked about if he still had dreams now that he is in the 50's. Yes definately. (Sure he does, dreams that's what keeps us young and alive, I think). It was a beautiful hour, very intimate, all in softness, with beautiful words, only voice and piano. It gave all the space for Gino's beautiful voice. Michiel, well, it was not the first time that he touched a piano, very talented, he seems live a very nice person too. They really appreciate working together and share the same passion for music. I would have like to assist to that concert in person.
Merci Gino and Michiel, for that beautiful moment on our cold winter here in Québec. Ça réchauffe nos petits coeurs!
We received this e-mail from Québec, Canada. It's in French but we assume that there will be another 2 re-runs of "Concert Pop tout en piano" with Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borstlap.
See the next e-mail which the editors B&T received on 10 April 2007, we cannot read French but we feel this is a disappointment e-mail because the re-runs of the Gino Vannelli/Michiel Borstlap shows were postponed to later in this summer... Here we go with the e-mail from our French reporter in Montréal, Québec, Canada: Pas de concert pop tout en piano avec Gino Vannelli le 9 avril tel que promis par musimax. Grande déception .Je les ai recontacté le soir meme , et voici la réponse de musimax:
Bonjour Monsieur Veilleux,
Quand j’aurai une autre confirmation je vais vous l’envoyer en espérant que seras la bonne Bye Renaud!

VPRO TV - Amsterdam, Holland 18 February 2007:
Please note: GINO VANNELLI and Michiel Borstlap are scheduled in the Dutch air or maybe we better write the air of Holland on Sunday morning 18 February 2007 around 10.31am in a VPRO program called:
(2) A direct way is the last way...
"BROTHER TO BROTHER" kicking and amazing with spectacular grand-piano sounds... But the very emotional and beautiful "Gipsy Days" grabbed us all. Pure MUSIC...
We had real Vannelli tunes in the air in our little and small country of Holland, only for about 25 minutes but hey that's enough on this Sunday morning to breath Vannelli tunes from the air and to get high again of this crystal clear powerful voice and even more powerful fingers on the grand-piano.
We, the editors, feel that the musical marriage between Gino Vannelli & Michiel Borstlap is a gift of God for music!!! And for non-musician people it adds again more beauty and enjoyment to life and in life!!! B&T
groet,
Paul
English/Engels: An e-mail from Paul V. in Scheveningen/The Hague dated 18 February 2007 with the subject: Gino
You two must have been chained to your tv this morning.....and enjoying Gypsy Days!!!!!!!!
By the way this was a very beautifull song....And I am very curious to know what this collaboration with Michiel Borstlap will produce. When I heard this old song again I still got this 70's feeling, what a top songs. I prefer that "old Gino" music but that's personal, and tastes differ. But it's logical that Gino develops in many ways because He is a real musician with lots of qualities. Greetings from Paul.
Hoi Barend en Trees ,

An e-mail from Chris in Bradford, Pennsylvania USA dated 2 Maart 2007 after seeing Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borst in the Dutch tv show "Vrije Geluiden" through the internet. The subject: My thoughts on Gino's music
Hey B&T,
I also enjoyed when the host played a snippet of "Powerful People" on LP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just thinking about something!!!!!!! What an amazing career he has had and the amazing start to his story, the beginning of his career where he ambushed his way into the former A&M Records lot. It was a mixture of Gino's determination and spirit (with the aid of brother Joe) and Herb Alpert's gutsy willingness to grant Gino the US record deal he so badly wanted. Since then, it has an amazing career with roller-coaster highs and burying-in-the-mud lows. Through it all, he has maintained his spirit, talent, loyal fanbase and loyal family and friends. He's one of those truly special artists, a truly special breed of artist who truly DARED TO BE DIFFERENT, which is actually a term I've heard applied to people like Michael McDonald. Which I don't agree with. I think Vannelli is better!!!(my opinion). Online music stores cast the two of them as similar when they're not. Vannelli's a master vocalist and composer compared to that other aforementioned guy. Anyway. I wanted to e-mail my thoughts and hope you have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris
1: A short story from the editors B&T dated 14 December 2006 with the subject: A Gino Vannelli & Michiel Borstlap rehearsal in the most beautiful and cosy living-room we have ever seen and walked in... Us simple souls were invited by the Master of Music for a rehearsal in Michiel Borstlap's home in Amsterdam... We took the train and picked up Gino, yes we did... Imagine??? We did not travel by train for about 80 years and now with Gino Vannelli??? Too crazy to tell... Yes we are shameless, we know. The fan's blood, fan's crazyness and the fan's virus keeps on running through our bodies. True devotion and commitment are never ever made by the mind but by the heart and spirit!!! We did not know what to expect and we were both open minded for all kinds of music, we already heard a few poems and new arrangements and new songs, yeahhh GINO VANNELLI quality work, but everything changes day by day and minute by minute because we learned through the years that artists and creative minds are never satisfied and now we have TWO Masters in music together and both are super perfectionists... who love to play very complicated music. Michiel still looks up to Gino and like a disciplined piano warrior Michiel plays Gino Vannelli's creations... In between Michiel plays a BROTHER TO BROTHER solo which made our mouths fall wide open... but this duo only Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borstlap was and still is a total new thing for us but we really, really love it. A living room with a big black GRAND-PIANO is already the ultimate dream living-room, only the grand-piano is already art. The living-room looked like a room in an old-castle with knigths and people like that and we were surrounded with music, and musical goodies, memories and pictures of Michiel Borstlap musical career and so many LP's, cd's, books and sheetmusic, the atmosphere was warm and it had character and the first hour and a half we were alone with Gino and Michiel and they played and sang parts of completely new songs... Spontaneous, fearless and passionate... Our smiles and good feelings grew and grew... Rock Me To Heaven... Right Where I Am... And with These Are The Days we both could not keep our eyes dry, we were real emotional monsters... Michiel played powerful and very impressive... Kind of a strong "Beethoven" way. We are lost, confused and soooooooooooooooooooooo very impressed... "None So Beautiful..." and a medley of the 70's songs like "Appaloosa" but the coolest part was WILD HORSES in a version which blew us from our feet, thank God we sat down and could hide a little bit... After 1 hour and a half more people came in, we think it were "important" people from the music-business and the whole show started again... WHAT A TREAT!!! WHAT A HONOUR FOR US TO BE THERE AT THAT TIME!!! But the first show was the most powerful for us and the most emotional... With business people in the room it's different, very different, we mean the atmosphere, the air is much more business than music if you know what we mean... This is one of the VERY BEST private live concerts with 2 musicians we have ever seen and heard!!! We say that all the time but this show is so special and so intense good. 1 musician with the Grand-Piano and 1 you know who...... with His voice and He also played the Grand-Piano and the keyboard. Just too beautiful for words and too difficult to explain the feelings which we felt ........ We had to say good bye to Gino... PRAISES TO GINO VANNELLI and MICHIEL BORSTLAP, two Masters in Music!!! Two Masters in live performance!!! What a musical adventure again... We wandered through Amsterdam for hours and hours to cooldown and to set our minds into real life again. Italy read the Gino Vannelli tour data and information web page... Go for this GINO VANNELLI concert in the Bitches Brew Jazz Club - San Benedetto del Tronto, you Italian fans cannot miss this Gino Vannelli spectacle... The songs we heard: Rock Me To Heaven, Wild Horses, These Are The Days, Brother to Brother, None So Beautiful, Right Where I Am, Gipsy song, Appaloosa, Fall Flower and in the League of Judas and so many more... We hope everybody who visits this concert tells us a few more songs which we can add to this list of played songs during a Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borstlap duoconcert. 2: An e-mail from Terry Scelfo in the USA dated 18 December 2006 with the subject: B&T
OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3: An e-mail from Terry Scelfo in the USA dated 20 December 2006 with the subject: B&T Montréal was magical! Montréal was magical!
Two "Masters" together on stage!!! It REALLY was a once in a life time opportunity. Hahaha!!! Michiel is such a jazz virtuoso on the grand piano. He interprets Gino's music with such an expressive freedom. Theres an intrinsical communication, watching the expressions on their faces. They were in their own world. I think they both would have played all night until they dropped!! Gino opened with a few ice breakers, as usual. The stage was very intimate, just enough room for the piano and Gino's keyboard, with translucent columns of changing light surrounding them. Since the show was being taped, if Gino wasn't satisfied with a song, we had the pleasure of hearing it again!!!! For instance, with None So Beautiful as the Brave. Gino played the piano and sang the song twice through its entirety. Gino sang his new song, Gypsy Days(?), which was beautiful!!!!!!! I really love the words to this song!! It's very romantic. Someone brought cushions out and Gino sat on stage, directly in front of those in the first row and sang Parole Per Mio Padre. I have never heard him sing a song with such emotion. And you can imagine that song being so personal. It gave me the chills!!! He also sang Brother to Brother, People Gotta Move, I Just Wanna Stop, Right Where I Am, Black Cars, Appaloosa and Wild Horses. He had intended to play the guitar as well, but the studio didn't have one! After the show we went to the Montreal Jazz Club. The sax player, Gianni, sat in with Gino and Michiel. He did a terrific job jamming with them. It was really cool. Gino sang his Gypsy song again, a jazzy medley of Fling of Mine and Appaloosa, Brother to Brother... They had to turn the lights on to get us all to leave!!! We met some wonderful people, as usual!!! Frank, a friend of Vic's. It was his first show! Now he's hooked!!! Vic, Ron, and Tony, so nice meeting you all. Thanks Ron for the ride and laughs!!! Gino's family had such nice things to say about the two of you!!!!!!!! Everyone plans to see Gino in Vegas. Yes, Uncle Vic is so nice and funny. He spoke so highly of you both. Asking us if we had met you, "no," then we must!!! That he always reads the website. He had all his friends there. When we were introduced, I said, "oh yes I've seen you on the Canto documentary, your Ross, Gino's younger brother!" He didn't leave my side after that!!! Hahaha!!!! It was really great to speak with DJ. He's very enthusiastic about Gino's upcoming plans and schedule and was his usual kind and considerate self!!! Michiel also had wonderful things to say about you (B&T)! We spoke after the show, and he told me Gino had invited the two of you as guests to his house to hear them perform and see what you thought!! He said you were good people!!! I couldn't agree more!
