A Monday in HAITEK HAIKU music-heaven in Arhus, Denmark !!!Monday 23 April 2001:
A few things we ( Barend and Trees ) have to tell you about.........
Saterday 21 April 2001 we drove for 8 to 9 hours to Denmark a wonderful trip with
wonderful weather, the weather was unbelievable good, much more better than in Holland........... We drove the same way as in April 1997 when we visited 3 live concerts with the Doky Brothers featuring GINO VANNELLI a trip with very good memories and emotions. We love to drive through very relaxed and silent Denmark..... sometimes people need silence in life, but NO silence in music !!! And people need to get away out of the stress and hectic dayly life and we are so blessed to get these chances...... A great drive and a very strange hotel in the middle of Arhus next to the most beautiful theatre we have ever seen in our lives..... we feel very comfortable in Arhus and the people are very helpful and immediately start talking English when they see and hear that we are not from Denmark. The Danish language is the most difficult language we have ever heard, when you read it you can recognize some words but the sound of the Danish language is totally from another planet to us and it is so cute to hear Niels Lan Doky speak Danish, Niels is a real genius in music but also in languages......... First thing we did Saterdayevening was walking to the venue called the TRAIN and see how it looks, we were never ever inside the Train and in 1997 the concert with the Doky Brothers and Gino Vannelli was in another venue. The Train is very close by our hotel so we could walk and leave our car in front of the hotel. Saterdayevening the Train was closed and there were concerts on Sunday- and Mondayevening. The Train is in the Harbor of Arhus and close by downtown Arhus
On sunday we had a great day with lots of sunshine and we visited Museums and made a very long walk through Arhus, everywhere where posters of the HAITEK HAIKU live concert, very nice to see, we sat down on the terrace in front of a nice café and enjoyed a few big, very big CappuGINO's in the sunshine with unbearably blue skies...........and a nice, very nice view on the HAITEK HAIKU posters...... We also walked to our favorite cd-shop : called Stereo Studio, and yes we saw the HAITEK HAIKU cd in the shop, the same shop we heard the Montserrat Caballé / GINO VANNELLI duet : "A Rose In December" for the very first time ever !! It was closed on sunday but we went back on Monday morning.
Monday 23 april 2001 the day of the concert, WOW !!! We cannot wait to hear the HAITEK HAIKU music live on stage !!
We also found a very old and special CD of Niels Lan Doky called : "The TARGET". "The Right To Remain Silent" !!OK now we have to go to the Train again to ask about our tickets we already paid for our tickets weeks ago but they did not mail us our tickets so we were worried, but one thing is sure if we do not get in..... we have to break into the Train (LOL!!!) We went to the office of the Train with our original bank-sheet in our pockets, yes really...... We had to have something to prove we paid for our tickets. But again we were treated very nicely and they knew all about us and we could go inside when ever we wanted because we were on the guestlist, wow !!!! what a relief !!! They told us the time the soundcheck starts, so we could come......AND WE DID !!! OFCOURSE WE DID !!! We do not want to miss a second of GOOD MUSIC, VERY GOOD MUSIC !!! OK we went inside the wonderful Train and WOW what a nice place something like the Fabrik in Hamburg, Germany. The Musicians were already humming and playing on stage, than Niels came on and he yelled heyyyyyy helloooooo to us and immediately came to us and hugged and kissed us !! WOW !!!! We were honoured by such a greeting. Niels told the band to stop and he introduced us to the musicians, we were so honoured and they all were so kind to us. The soundcheck starts ........ WOW !!! We had more than a hour of joy and pleasure, we could hear and enjoy a big part of the HAITEK HAIKU music already and the voice of the woman singer Chris was just beyond touching, she narrated the haiku's and it was amazing to hear these haiku's live on stage. My, oh my...... to hear the sounds of "KARUMI" for the very first time ever live on stage brought real tears to Trees's eyes for sure, in this rough and very unkind world of Holland, especially our hometown, and than being there in the Train for real and hearing the tunes of "KARUMI" makes you feel so emotional with all those friendly Musicians......... and an empty and peaceful concert-hall. Incredible to hear Niels Lan Doky play the "INTRO" and " Divorce court " and everything and every sound we hear gets to us, the voice of Chris Mayne is really amazing and cristal clear. During the soundcheck 2 Ladies came in and again a great honour for us to meet these 2 nice Ladies.
And they both could speak English very well, thank God !! We really enjoyed the soundcheck very, very much and all Musicians came to shake our hands. Niels came to us and we talked for a while, we had to give Niels a present from a Dutch fan called Clem. Clem asked us to give this special present to Niels, so we did and Niels was really happy with the gift, he studied the whole thing very seriously and Niels showed his gratitude very clearly and honestly. Your gift is a BIG success Clem, that's for sure !!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We all went to an Italian restaurant and had a great and cosy meal. We talked so long that the time was racing by like crazy, Niels and the Musicians had to get ready for
the concert and we kept on talking with Katrine and Maiken and before we knew it it was almost 8 o'clock so we had to run to the Train and all the best places were gone but hey
we were satisfied because we cannot have it all, dinner with all those kind people and also the best places noooooo that should be so unfair. One of Trees's favorite musical works of art "DIVORCE COURT" and "SPILT MILK" and "WAR OF A LONESOME DOVE" hit us very strongly in the heart and brains, POWERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, FUNNY.......... and the haiku's were funny, sexy and with beautiful words and deeper meanings........... It is not the music alone, nor the Haiku's alone, it's everything, not a few songs or tunes but it is the whole air, the passion, and vibes and spirit and that is possible to feel during this Haitek haiku music !!! That's for sure !!!
And suddenly there was "SATISFACTION" We could not believe our ears and we listened with an open mouth,
All Musicians did great and superb solo's :
Another BIG SURPRISE : Niels started a solo on the piano and we recognized the melody of TENDER LIES Chris sang the lyrics in French !!! Such a beautiful language. The audience loved the music and there was a real BIG applause in between the musical works of art !! And at the end of the show BIG standing ovations !!! This Haitek Haiku music will outlive us all!! GINO VANNELLI and NIELS LAND DOKY wrote history again !!!!
They played a long time, almost 3 hours, and we got it all in this show. The mix of music is amazing and breathtaking. We also heard music from the Doky Brothers 2 album and they played "ONE NOTE AT A TIME" and a musical piece which we recognized as a song by Tom Jones. Yesssss very, very impressive !!! After the concert Niels signed cd-booklets and poster and YESSSS the nice Lady of the record shop came to us and brought us a poster as promised, so very sweet of her. We talked a while and when the people of the audience were ready with asking Niels for signatures, we bothered Niels (LOL!!!!) Niels wrote a little note to us on the poster and on our HAITEK HAIKU cd-booklet and we got a very special present from Katrine : The HAITEK HAIKU tourbook !!! We were really spoiled rotten by all those sweet, very sweet people and we will keep them all in our hearts forever !!
We were invited to have a drink backstage, a cold welcome which we needed after this "HOT" live performance, we had a lot of fun and after we had to leave the building
we were invited again to have a drink in the Bar of the casino next to the Musicians hotel.
A VERY BIG SPECIAL "THANK YOU SO MUCH" FOR GIVING US THIS MUSICAL SATISFACTION and for treating us so well, very well and friendly...... THANK YOU to :
