Hey Barend en Trees,
Jullie weten dat ik een grote fan ben van Gino,
maar dat het zo erg is dat mijn dochters er aan moeten geloven wellicht nog niet. Ik sprak John W. even na het signeren achter de stand toen mijn dochters nog niet op het plein waren of er nog een mogelijkheid was even iets later een fotomoment te kunnen regelen van mijn dochters met Gino maar dit ging helaas niet.

Toen mijn dochers even later aankwamen zag ik jullie auto staan en dacht... dit is mijn moment. Dus voor het instappen alsnog deze onvergetelijke foto...(foto 021.jpg) waarop mijn dochters Vera (links) en Stella (rechts) staan.

Willen jullie nog meer foto's, want ik heb er tenslotte nog meer van Gino en bandleden op het podium gemaakt.

Tenslotte krijgen jullie een pluim van mij. En ja waarom. Dat is niet zo moeilijk, voor al het mooie werk wat jullie verrichten voor Gino en de fans. Ik had het al eens gezegd, maar bij deze nog een keer.

Hey Barend and Trees,
You know that I am a big fan of Gino,
But that it is so bad and deep that my Daughters have to suffer and go though this, you two did not know yet! I talked with John W. for a while after the signing session at that table and my Daughters were not at the square yet and I asked him if there was a possibility for a photo moment with Gino and my Daughters but unfortunately John said that it was impossible.

When my Daughters walked towards us on the square I saw your car and immediately thought... THIS IS THE MOMENT! So before you got into the car this incredible and unforgettable picture still happened after all!

Last but not least I want to give you a big compliment. Why? That's not that difficult, for all your hard and beautiful work which you do for Gino and the fans. I told you before, but I want to say it again.

Hoi Barend & Trees.
Wat kan je allemaal doen op een mooie Pinksterdag........
met temperaturen van rond de 23C is het een hele goede keuze om lekker in de tuin te gaan liggen bakken, nog beter is het om naar het strand te gaan, wat dacht je van een pretpark te bezoeken en laten we het Pinkpopfestival niet vergeten, geweldige dingen maar...... dat laten wij allemaal links liggen want er is voor ons maar één goede keuze voor deze mooie dag en dat is naar Middelburg gaan om Gino weer te zien op te treden met de DutchBeat!!!!!

Dus op naar Middelburg, eenmaal daar aangekomen ontdekken we de prachtige locatie van het Abdijplein waar het festival gehouden zal worden. Een mooi podium en....zitplaatsen, dat maak je hier toch niet vaak mee bij een buitenfestival.

Tot onze vreugde zien we ook jullie weer, Barend en Trees!!!!! Barend in het zonnetje, oei, pas op voor je bolletje Barend!! En Trees in gevecht met de wegwaaiende posters van Gino.

Als we eenmaal zitten zien we ook Donja en Carlos achter ons verschijnen, altijd leuk om elkaar weer te zien.

En dan rond 16.30 uur is het tijd voor Gino om met de band op te treden. Wonderbaarlijk dat je die kriebels blijft houden voordat het begint, al hebben we het (Godzijdank) zoveel keer de afgelopen tijd al mogen meemaken.

Het geluid is ondanks dat het buiten is super en alles klinkt perfect, Gino en de bandleden geven weer alles wat ze in huis hebben en dat is veel, heel veel.

Zowel nieuw als oude repertoire kwam weer voorbij en als verrassing kregen we dit keer het nummer Yust a Motion Away te horen.

Ook Canto werd dit keer weer prachtig gezongen door Gino, ik hoorde zelfs iemand zeggen dat het zo goed klonk dat ze niet konden geloven dat het live was.......Ja laat dat maar aan Gino over.

We hebben weer enorm genoten. Met als afsluiting nog een dikke knuffel van Gino.
Hoe mooi kan een Pinksterdag eindigen ????

We gingen weer vrolijk naar huis genietend van muziek in de auto (je kan wel raden van wie).

Tijdens een koffiestop onderweg kwamen we ook nog Theo de bassist tegen en is hij gezellig bij ons aangeschoven om de dag nog eens door te nemen en na zo”n praatje blijkt dan dat je gewoon een 1 kilometer van elkaar woont, grappig toch.
Barend & Trees hopelijk tot gauw maar weer.

Gino thank you so much. You have make this day sunnier than it already was.

Hi Barend & Trees.
What are the things you can do on a holiday: a beautiful Whit-Monday?
Temperatures around the 23 degrees Celcius, than it's a good choice to lay down in the garden and cook your body in the sun, even better is to go to the beach or how about a visit to an amusement park and let's not forget the Pinkpop Festival, all great things to do but...... NO WAY... we can only make the one and the right choice and that's to go to Middelburg to see Gino Vannelli perform live on stage with the DutchBeat!!!!!!

So let's go to Middelburg, and when we arrived there we discovered one of the most beautiful venues ever: The Abdijplein, an inner-square of an abby, used for this festival. A wonderful stage..... And seats, we do not see that very often at an outdoors festival.

We were very happy to see you two again, Barend and Trees!!!!!! Barend in the sunshine, wheh! Barend take care of your little bold head!!! And we see Trees fighting with the wind and the posters of Gino.

When we finally found our seats we also see Donja and Carlos appear behind us, always such fun to see eachother again.

And than around 4.30pm it's time for Gino and the band to perform. It's such a miracle that you keep on being nervous and get it on your nerves before the show starts, even now when we see Gino so many times in one year (THANK GOD!)

The sound is super and everything sounds fantastic even outdoors. Gino and His band give it all, everything what's inside them and that's much, much too much!

The old and the new songs came by and there was a big surprise this time, we could listen live to: Yust a Motion Away.

Also Canto was so beautiful and very well sung by Gino, I even heard somebody say that Canto sounded so good and they could not believe it was live...... Yeahhh that's Gino.

We enjoyed it so much again. And we closed everything with a BIG hug from Gino.
How beautiful can Whit-Monday end ???? ????

We were so cheerful and went home very happy enjoying the music in our car
(We bet you can guess who's music?)

During our coffee stop on the road we bumped into Theo de Jong the bass guitar player of the DutchBeat Band and he sat down with us and in a very cosy way we talked through the day and after such a cosy conversation we discovered that Theo lives only 1 kilometer from our home, so funny, isn't it?
Barend & Trees hope to see you two soon again.

Lieve Trees en Barend,
Het is weer een FANTASTISCHE dag geweest in Middelburg. Om bij het begin te beginnen, toen wij, Paulien en ik, na een lange reis in de trein van 2.30 uur uit stapten, dachten we, WAAR ZIJN WE NU DAN TOCH BELAND!!

Het was uitgestorven...............en we hoorden geen muziek.........niets??
Gelukkig toen we bij het plein kwamen, hoorden we eindelijk de klanken van JAZZ.
Maar................toch wel erg weinig mensen en een wat tamme sfeer?!?! Vonden jullie dat ook???

Het prachtige gebouw en de zon maakte het nog enigzins aantrekkelijk. Het fijne was wel dat we "weer" helemaal vooraan konden zitten............want ja, ik moet natuurlijk wel eerlijk blijven, wij kwamen wel SPECIAAL voor GINO natuurlijk!

We hebben enorm GENOTEN.................maar het was toch wat kort voor ons gevoel en.............(don't get me wrong) maar Gino zag er wat bleekjes uit en had niet die energie en "sparkle" zoals in Lelystad en Paradiso. Ik miste zijn "grapjes" , maar ik kan me ook voorstellen dat "dit" publiek voor hem ook niet zo inspirerend was, toch!

Wij willen niet lullig doen of zo, hoor! En wij kunnen ons heel goed voorstellen dat hij niet altijd kan "pieken". Maar het was gewoon een wat minder uitbundig optreden dan de concerten hiervoor. Desalniettemin................het was heerlijk om hem weer te zien en vooral te horen, want ja.........zingen kan deze geweldige man als de BESTE!!! En waren we weer helemaal blij!!

En Trees, om eerlijk te zijn, voelde ik me toch een beetje een puber, toen ik je vroeg om een foto te maken.hahaaha Maar wel bijzonder lief dat je het zomaar gedaan hebt. Bedankt nogmaals!! Ook voelde ik me wat onzeker over het kado dat ik Gino gegeven heb. Ik ben helemaal niet zo goed met het opschrijven van mijn gevoelens, maar ik vond toch dat Gino mag weten wat hij en zijn muziek bij mij los hebben gemaakt. Hij geeft tenslotte zoveel!!!! Dus wilde ik hem graag iets persoonlijks van mij geven..............of is dat een beetje gek!? Misschien had ik hem nog erbij moeten zeggen, dat ik wel wat woorden en zinnen van anderen heb geleend om tot het gedicht te komen die hij uiteindelijk in dat mooie dagboek gekregen heeft. Maar waarschiijnlijk heeft hij dat zelf al ondekt! En die Nederlandse aforismen willen jullie vast wel voor hem vertalen?? Vond het wel leuk/grappig voor hem om ook wat Nederlands te lezen.

Ik was nooit zo onzeker over dit soort zaken, maar nu heb ik toch wat verloren van mijn onbevangenheid merk ik tot mijn spijt. Jullie hebben het mij op een heel prettige manier gemakkelijk gemaakt dit zo te uiten, dank jullie wel voor zoveel toegankelijkheid en begrip.

Dear Trees and Barend,
It was a fantastic day again in Middelburg. To start at the beginning, when we, Paulien and me, walked out off the train after a long journey of 2 and a half hours, we both thought: WHERE ON EARTH DID WE LAND!!! where did we end up!!!

The place was quite deserted..............and we did not hear music.........nothing??
Gladly when we entered the square we heard the tunes of JAZZ at last.
Anyway................still only a few people and what a lame atmosphere?!?! Did you feel the same way???

The very beautiful building and the sun made it all a little bit attractive. The positive thing was that we had seats at the front row "again"............ because I have to be honest of course, yes we really came especially for GINO!

We enjoyed it so very much.................but we thought it was very short and.............(don't get me wrong) Gino looked a bit pale and he did not have the energy and "sparkle" like in Lelystad and Paradiso. I missed his "jokes", but I can also imagine that this audience was not that inspiring for him, don't you think so!

We do not want to talk through our necks but we can imagine very well that Gino cannot top all the time it's just that this concert was less enthusiastic than the concerts before this one in Middelburg. However................it was lovely to see him again and especially to hear him! Oh well, this great man can sing like the BEST!!! And we were totally and completely happy again!!

And Trees, to be honest I felt like a teenager and a little bit like an adolescent when I asked you to make a picture of Gino and me. hahahaha but very sweet of you that you just did it and made a few pictures. Thanks again!! I also felt a bit uncertain about the present I gave to Gino. I am not that good with writing down my emotions, but I still thought Gino should know what his music did to me. At least he gives us so much!!!! So I wanted to give him something personal........ Or is this crazy!? Maybe I should have told him that I borrowed some lines, words and sentences from other people to make a complete poem which he got from me in that beautiful journal/diary. But probably he discovered that already himself! Maybe you two want to translate those Dutch aphorism for him?? I thought it was funny for him to read some Dutch too.

I was never ever so uncertain about these matters, but now I noticed that I lost something of my unconcernedness and I regret that. You two made it easy for me in a nice way to express myself, thank you so much for all this understanding and accessibility.

Hi Barend and Trees,
White Monday, what a great day it was!
No flower markets this year but a sunny afternoon in Middelburg, with GINO VANNELLI, on a perfect location.

We were just arrived and soon we saw some of the fans; Wil and Rob en later on Erwin and his wife. We saw you Barend fighting with the posters because it was a bit windy! After a little chat, we sat down. We had good seats on the second row. So we were ready to "hear it from the boys"! One boy particularly!

Soon the familiar sound of "This Day On" was in the sky. We know the line up already after all this great concerts. But.. there was a big surprise.... Gino sang "Just a Motion Away" I play that song often because it is on my work out cd. It was a pleasure to hear the song unexpectedly live! It is timeless, it could had been a new song instead! I heard some new sound effects from Eddy Conard the percussion player. Every time an other little sound effect... Yep, that is Gino.

We were enjoying the music but too bad we had to sit all the time, so we were swinging on our chairs. The encore was "You Gotta Move" We could finally move and most people were standing and dancing. And then it was over to soon as always.... I think Gino definitely got more new fans again, after this awesome concert!

Gino would come back to sign his cd's. Wil and I almost missed him because we were walking to the toilets! Just on time I noticed Gino, so we can say hi and make a picture... Again? Yes again!

You never can get enough pics! We could say hi to you too Trees, "the backstage woman"... LOL! Now we have to miss Gino for the summer season but we are assured from another year with Gino in our country because we saw, in fall he is back again! Yeah! I hope it will never end....

B&T we wish you a great summer, have fun. Thanks for all the good work and support!

Hallo Barend en Trees,
wat is het toch fijn, dat www.ginovannelli.info" bestaat. Door jullie site heb ik net kunnen nagenieten van het concert in Middelburg.

Want wat was dat een feestje; in de zon kijken naar Gino+band in topvorm, omringd door eeuwenoude gebouwen met witte wijn uit een plastic bekertje. Ondanks de zon kreeg ik koude rillingen van A Good Thing; de emotie was voelbaar, hoorbaar en zichtbaar. De band had er duidelijk zin in; geweldig om te zien. Alsof ze blij waren weer met elkaar op het podium te staan (of zie ik dat verkeerd?).

Een paar uur in de file staan om Zeeland uit te komen op weg naar Schiedam, is na zo'n concert ineens geen enkel probleem.
Ik kan er weer even tegen tot het volgende concert in het najaar!
Hoop jullie dan ook weer te zien.

It is so nice, very nice that there is a www.ginovannelli.info". Because of your web site I just had so much after-fun about the Middelburg concert.

It was such a party again; watch into the sun to see Gino+band in top condition, surrounded by centuries old buildings with a white wine in a plastic cup. In spite of the sun I got shivers and my flesh did creep from A Good Thing; The emotions were touchable, perceptible, audible and visible. People were visibly affected. The band liked it and were happy and cheerful; fantastic to see. It was like they love to be on that stage and play together (or am I wrong?)

A few hours in the traffic jams to get out off Zeeland to reach Schiedam again, is suddenly no problem at all after such a concert.
I got my energy fix again, hope to see you again in the Fall at the next concert!

OOOOh....... Ik vond het concert echt geweldig.
Ik heb zo zitten genieten.
Ik ken de laatste cd al uit mijn hoofd, dus daar kon ik alles van meezingen.
De oudere nummers ken ik niet zo goed, behalve de grote hits.
Ik had eigenlijk 1 cd van hem: de “live in montreal”, die heb ik een keer in de zomer van 1995 gekocht in de aanbieding, omdat ik wild horses zo’n goed nummer vond. Wie had ooit kunnen denken, dat ik die cd jaren later in Lelystad door de man himself zou laten signeren.

Echt gaaf.

Wat me zo verbaast en wat ik zo leuk vind is dat Gino zo toegankelijk is.
Nooit gedacht dat hij zoveel tijd voor zijn fans zou nemen. Hoewel ik te verlegen ben om op de foto met hem te gaan.

Het was sowieso een schitterende dag in Middelburg, mooi weer, je kon lekker dicht bij het podium zitten, ongelooflijk goede band erbij. Je kon zien dat de muzikanten ook genoten. Ik moest erg lachen om de man, die de percussie deed, die maakte er een showtje van en vergat af en toe iets te doen.

Ja, het was wel anders dan een concert met Bert van den Brink, maar niet minder mooi.

By the way, ik vind het hardstikke lief, dat je even tijd voor me had in Middelburg, Trees. Natuurlijk gaat Gino voor, ik had niet anders verwacht. Ik vind het al zo leuk, dat jullie de e-mails beantwoorden. Ik vind het ook leuk jullie ontmoet te hebben! Mijn volgende concert wordt waarschijnlijk Eindhoven.

Keep up the good work! En, o, ja, de pagina’s van Middelburg zien er weer top uit. Mooie foto’s hoor, jullie hebben echt talent.

OOOOh....... This concert was really, really excellent.
I have enjoyed this concert so very, very much! Much too much!
I know already all the lyrics of the latest cd by head so I could sing along all those songs...
I do not know the older songs that well, except for the hits of course.
Actually I only had 1 cd of him: the “live in montreal”, I bought that cd in the Summer of 1995 in the sales because I liked the Wild Horses song so much. Who could ever thought that years later and later the Man HIMSELF signed this same cd in Lelystad. SO COOL!!!

The thing that surprises me and that I like so much is the fact that Gino is so open and approachable.
Very easy of access! I never ever thought that he should take time for His fans. However I am too shy to go on a picture with him.

In any case it was a glorious beautiful day in Middelburg, nice weather, and you could sit very close by to the stage and an unbelievable great band with Gino. You could see that the musicians also enjoyed everything. I had to laugh like crazy because of the percussionist, the man did his own show and even forgot things to do sometimes.

Yeah, it was different compared to the concert with Bert van den Brink, but it was not less beautiful.

By the way Trees, I thought it was very sweet of you to take time for me in Middelburg. And yes of course Gino comes first, I did not expect another way. I think it's already so nice of you two that you give a reply to my e-mails. And I like it too that I met you guys! My next concert will probably be Eindhoven.

Keep up the good work! And, oh yes, the Middelburg web pages look super top again! Beautiful pictures! You two have a real talent!

Graag wilden wij nog even kwijt dat we ontzettend genoten hebben van het concert dat Gino Vannelli heeft gegeven hier in Middelburg. Wat een stem heeft die man en wat een energie.

Wij kenden hem eigenlijk nog van de bekenden hits van vroeger en wisten dus niet wat we van dit optreden konden verwachten maar er is maar één conclusie, Gino is alleen maar beter geworden.
De nieuwe CD hebben we dus ook gelijk gekocht en genieten er elke dag van.
Een aanrader voor iedereen !

We love to tell you that we enjoyed the Gino Vannelli concert in Middelburg in a big, very BIG way. The voice and the energy of that man is incredible.

We only knew him from the older hits in the early days and we did not know what to expect from this performance but we ended up with one conclusion: Gino just got better and better.
We also bought the new cd and we enjoy it every day.
A best buy! And we can recommend this cd to everybody!

Wat een feest was het met Gino in Middelburg.
We keken er al zo lang naar uit om hem live te zien. Hij was echt de topper van het festival.
Ook een goede samenwerking met de bandleden, het klonk fantastisch.
We hebben al veel muziek van Gino thuis maar dat wordt nu nog alleen maar meer.

We already looked forward such a long time to see him live on stage. He was really the topact from this festival.
There was also a very good connection with the bandmembers, the sound was fabulous.
At home we have already lots of Gino Vannelli's music and after this it will grow into more and more...
We are 1 more experience richer!

I'm going to try to write in my best English. Could not believe my ears Gino Vannelli in Middelburg so close by Goes my hometown so I went to Middelburg early in the morning of the first of June and waited at the gates of the Abdijplein and saw you arriving in a kind of bleuish car so I WAVED at Gino and HE WAVED BACK!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! This made my day already...... I could listen to most of the soundcheck behind the gates and I LOVED IT!!!! Super cool and interesting........ And thank God the weather was so great! Gino's voice gave me goose-bumps even when he only talked or checked the mic.....

Went on the Abdijplein around two o'clock I think had a nice drink and sat down listened to Fay and could not wait for half past 4 and YESSSSSSS there He was and so close by!!! And what a voice, the sound was great even so close by the stage... "From This Day on" did my heart turn around and I deeply enjoyed all the songs.... WHAT A SHOW and all this in Middelburg! I still cannot believe this happened.... The Dutchbeat was awesome and PEOPLE GOTTA MOVE swinged around the Abdijplein and the cold-blooded people from Zeeland danced at last!

And this is not all because after the concert Gino came back to the Abdijplein and we could shake his hand and ask for a signature or a picture, such a down to earth Man and such a super worldstar. It's unbelievable... I already bought the new cd A GOOD THING so I asked the guy for a poster and he gave it to me totally for free and Gino signed it!!!!!! GINO VANNELLI signed my poster, a treasure forever...........

This web site of Barend and Trees is such fun too I can surf for hours and read and read there are Gino Vannelli things which I never ever heard of for example Gino Vannelli sang a duet with Montserrat Caballe????? That's something!!! I think my head is empty now and my english gets worse and worse... THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH GINO VANNELLI!!! I am not a poet but I still have to say: "You make my heart smile with your music, your voice, your lyrics and your poems and also with your whole appearance! Love, Kate.

Beste Trees en Barend, ten eerste wat een prachtige site hebben jullie, ik wist niet dat er zoveel naslag werk te vinden was over Gino Vannelli.

Daar zullen jullie vast veel mensen een groot plezier mee doen.
Ook dankzij jullie kwamen we erachter dat Gino in Middelburg een concert zou geven, we waren zo aangestoken door al het moois wat te zien is op jullie site dat we de kans niet konden laten lopen om dat ook eens zelf mee te maken.

En mooi dat was het ook, complimenten aan Gino Vannelli en bandleden, goed geluid, steengoede muziek maar vooral een superartiest die bovendien zoals achteraf bleek bij het signeren ook nog eens heel sympathiek is.

We bet you make many people happy with this information.
Thanks to you two we found out about the Jazz Festival in Middelburg and that Gino should give a concert out there, we were infected by all the beautiful things we saw on your web site so we could not let this chance go to travel to Middelburg and feel the Gino Vannelli concert feeling ourselves.

And it was sooooo beautiful, our compliments to Gino Vannelli and the Band members, good sound, very good music but especially a super artist who after all was very nice and friendly at the signing session.

i ve viewed your beautiful report about the Middelburg concert and it s a very beautiful and nice slide show. Bravo !!
i ve missed this show but thanks to your work we are very well informed about the rehersals, the show and the after show with all those fans at the signing session.

Gino seems very busy this summer with the us tour, it s great for the american fans. I ve to plan a visit in Holland in the fall if Gino don t come to France. So according to you what is the best city for one or two concerts in your beautiful country ?

Zo treed o.a op Dave Holland en Gino Vannelli die speciaal zal spelen met Nederlandse begeleiding. Hij vertelde in een interview aan Omroep Zeeland dat hij hier erg naar uit keek en speciaal voor dit festival terug is gekomen naar Nederland. Tevens promoot hij zijn nieuwe cd. Datum 30 Mei 2009.

English/Engels: MIDDELBURG - This weekend Middelburg is the city of Jazz. The third international Jazz festival started and following the traditions this happened with a Jazz in the city. In many café's and bars performed different bands for free. The people of the audience came in big amounts to downtown Middelburg also thanks to the beautiful weather.

For a while it looked like that the third edition should be cancelled this year but the director of this festival Renny Minnaert did it again this year. He is very proud of the line up. Because the following musicians will perform like: Dave Holland and Gino Vannelli who will play especially with a Dutch Band. He told in an interview at TV channel Zeeland that He looked forward to this concert, especially this concert in Middelburg and that He came back to Holland for this concert only!
