ENGLISH / ENGELS:NEDERLANDS / DUTCH:
Thursday 28 May 2009:
In this episode an interview with Gino Vannelli. The singer and songwriter from Canada performs during the Jazz Festival in Middelburg at Whit-Monday.

Gino Vannelli the poet

HOUSE OF SKULLS

To the barroom canary
With the running eyes
Scatting black swan
The devil occupies

To the lady of letters
Unthreading like a spool
Hung and crucified
On a four-foot stool

Beatin’ at the sorrow
Clawin’ at the pain
Losin’ the fight
Jabbin’ at the vein

In a house of skulls
And stone-deaf ears
A man chases dram
With a couple of tears

To the half-lit muse
Starin’ holes at the moon
Reaching for the light
Through a smoke-filled room

Banished angel
Queen of the damned
Spittin’ blood and tears
On the band stand

Beatin’ at the sorrow
Clawin’ at the pain
Losin’ the fight
Jabbin’ at the vein

In a house of skulls
Long past twelve
One man weeps
for his other self

(From the textbook with the new album‘A Good Thing’)

Donderdag 28 Mei 2009:
In deze aflevering een interview met Gino Vannelli. De Canadese zanger en tekstschrijver treedt met Pinksteren op tijdens het Jazzfestival in Middelburg.

Gino Vannelli de dichter

SCHEDELHUIS

Aan de café-kanarie
Met rooddoorlopen ogen
Duivelse zwarte zwaan
Bezeten opgevlogen

Aan de brievendame
Gekruisigd hangend aan de toog
Afgewikkeld als een klos
Op een kruk van vier voet hoog

Slaat tegen het verdriet
Klauwt omdat hij lijdt
Brabbelt voor zich uit
En verliest de strijd

In een schedelhuis
Jaagt door stokdove lanen
Een man zijn borrel na
Met een paar tranen

Aan de half beschenen muze
Starend naar de kraters op de maan
Trachtend door een rokerige ruimte
Naar het Licht te gaan

Verbannen engel
Vorstin van verdoemde naam
Spuugt bloed en tranen
Op de santenkraam

Slaat tegen het verdriet
Klauwt omdat hij lijdt
Brabbelt voor zich uit
En verliest de strijd

In een schedelhuis
Een man en zijn gesnik
Ver na middernacht
Om zijn andere ik
