COMMENTS AFTER THE CONCERT:

1: Nederlands/Dutch: Lieve Barend en Trees,
Nog bedankt voor de onverwachtse fantastische avond!!!
Was weer als balsem voor de ziel.
Ik schrijf nog een stukje, van het weekend hoor.
Helaas moet Carlos straks werken. Welterusten,
Groetjes, Donja en Carlos, 26 Oktober 2007.

1: English/Engels: Dear Barend and Trees,
Again many big thanks for this unexpected fantastic evening!!!
It was like balm for the soul and we were moved to the core of our souls.
I will still write a review this weekend.
However, Carlos has to work later. And I am very lucky, I have to do a lot but do not have to leave bed that early. I am going to sleep in a very happy state of mind! Goodnight, sleep well! Greetings,
Donja and Carlos, 26 October 2007.

2: Yes, here we go again (the editors B&T) and we say this all the time over and over again but this duo-concert in the SJU Jazzpodium in Utrecht, Holland was really, really, really the BEST concert ever!!! Why??? The joy, the feelings, the enthusiasm, the magic, the smiles on the faces of Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borstlap, the grand-piano, the VOICE, the music, the brandnew poems, the small venue, the fans, the encore, the vibes, the humour, the tears, the laughs, the stories, the powerful aggressive way of playing the grand-piano, the strong powerful Gino Vannelli way of singing straight from His heart and than the people from the audience who dared to be the backing vocals and even a drummer without real drums, the entertainment, true emotions, when people looked in Gino and Michiel's eyes they could see the happyness and feel their artistic freedom...

What an evening, what a treat, the sweets of life with a quality level which goes beyond every musical performance we both ever saw and heard.

And we write this without feeling of shame because the respect and admiration for these two Masters grew again. Those two musicians have it and fit together on stage and in Gino Vannelli's music!!! The way Gino asked if there was a Drummer in the audience said it all, the man did not wait and jumped on stage during Wild Horses and he got a bar stool and he drummed in avery natural way in harmony with the Wild Horses tunes no pressure just fun and the man really enjoyed this... His Daughter who was in the audience was so very proud... She told us his name: Dick Heinen...

Super kicking fantastic and the glow of spontaneity is so amazing and gives us goose-bumps and chickenflesh.........

When Gino asked for backing vocals with I Just Wanna Stop, 2 men and a young girl came on stage, and you will see on the pictures we make on this web page that it is for real and the delight and happyness is all over the place, things people do is in freedom and the pictures say it all. And we spoke many times about music-heaven, this was a real music heaven that Thursday evening in Utrecht, Holland.

The energy and the electricity was there all the time and the backing vocals were extreme fun. Gino asked their names which we cannot remember anymore except for the man on the right who said His name is "Bocelli" and the audience went wild because when you looked at the man for the first time you saw something of Andrea Bocelli!!! The three backing vocals were great!!! They played the musical game with Gino and Michiel like they were professionals. Imagine how Gino and Michiel enjoyed this response from the people in the audience... WILL BE CONTINUED...

This duo-concert was a warming up for Sweden, Gino and Michiel had to go to Sweden the next day... and they were both very happy with this unexpected warming-up concert and the true enthusiasm of the audience... And the audience got more than a warming-up concert... A beautiful musical memory which is printed in the brains forever...

After the concert Gino and Michiel showed their happy feelings to the audience and came back in the bar to have a drink and a chat and a picture with us, us music-lovers and us GINO VANNELLI music-lovers!!! These are those moments in life which race by so fast and we all wish that it will last longer and longer and more and more...

The 2 Gino Vannelli poems were impressive but we need to read them again a few times to catch the real deep meaning of how Gino must have felt while writing these words... The titles are "Bridges and Walls" and "Dream of the Dead". Gino must have enough material by now to create a poem book. The Dutch air made Him write many, many words... The editors B&T dated 26 October 2007 who thank Gino and Michiel with the most deep respect and appreciation for the chance to be there at that moment!!! Luv you and your music Guys....

4: Thursday will never ever be the same...

Dear Barend and Trees
I have to whrite about last night the 25th of october.
We got the change to see Gino life in a very special concert, some sort of try out, well... if this was a try out, blessed are the ones at the "final" concert, altough i think this cannot get any better.

I am a Gino in concert freak, i guess i went about at least twentyfive times to see Gino live, but this one was without a doubt one OF THE BEST EVER. His voice was full of beauty, amazingly clear, power, with sometimes a gentle touch so delicat and pure, wow! you had to be there.

He was very, very funny Sh(i)eet music, are you canadian?(lol) he is a real stand up comedian The whole band, guitar, violins, drums, bass, etc, where magically made by one man THE AMAZING PIANOPLAYER michiel borstlap, I did not mis one instrument, chapeau!! michiel

There where a lot hard core fans, "we getting to be friends", each and everyone as exited as we are, Wil and her husband, peter and wife and always our support and dearly friends barend and trees, who understand our Gino admiration an dedication so perfectly (thanks guys for everything).

Afterwards we got to talk a little bit with Gino, i'am still a bit nervus, but its getting lesser (is that a word?)

Got my picture taken with Gino and wil,... This was the 9th concert this year THE NINTH, can you imagen? and still if tomorrow?....i go again AND AGAIN Friday.. i'am a zombi, got no sleep, keep hearing his voice, and in my mind, i see the whole concert over and over again I AM ADDICTED AND I LOVE IT, GINO IS THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!! Ron dated 26 October 2007.

GYPSY DAYS
DON'T GIVE UP
BLACK CARS
GOOD THING
BROTHER TO BROTHER
PEOPLE GOTTA MOVE
En tot slot………..

Parole Per Mio Padre

Zo vreselijk mooi !!

(I JUST WANNA STOP, WILD HORSES)

5: English/Engels: Hi dear people,
This evening is very high marked on our list

Dear Barend and Trees,
Yesterday evening was a delight and we are so happy that we could be there.
First the tickets which we won thru radio 6 ! When we arrived we took 2 front row seats without any shame. (Shameless fans! Hahahahaha!)

The atmosphere in the small jazz venue was super relaxed and cool. The whole audience thought this was sooooooo fantastic. And we could feel the great atmosphere when Gino and Michiel walked on stage they had such glorious grins... After that the music....... fantastic, super good music relieved with poems and anecdotes, a short break and more and more.......

GYPSY DAYS
DON'T GIVE UP
BLACK CARS
GOOD THING
BROTHER TO BROTHER
PEOPLE GOTTA MOVE
And at the end………..

Parole Per Mio Padre

So very, very beautiful !!

Even during 2 songs people were asked on stage from the audience to do the backing vocals and to drum and that was a real pleasure and we all had good enjoyable laughs.

(I JUST WANNA STOP, WILD HORSES)

Taking it all in all, this was a memorable evening which we will never ever forget.
Love, Ton and Isabel dated 26 October 2007.

6: Nederlands/Dutch: Beste Barend,
Jim d.d. 27 Oktober 2007.

6: English/Engels: Dear Barend,
So nice to meet you last Thursday in Utrecht.
Fantastic work on your Gino site.
And a great concert.
I really loved the whole thing! What an artists!
And after the concert they talked with everybody like this is a normal natural thing. Worldstar Gino Vannelli and the best piano-player of Holland and surroundings: Michiel Borstlap. Unbelievable!!! They increased in value not like in money but as a person. And of course many thanks to you two because I could not have known this without you two!!!
Jim dated 27 October 2007.

7: What a BIG SURPRISE was this unannounced concert!
On Tuesday I heard the big news that Michiel and Gino are doing a warming up concert on Thursday in Utrecht. WOW!!!

I had never expected to see and hear Gino so soon again, after Bilzen!
I was very happy that I had the opportunity to go and Carlos too. It was an amazing evening. The Sju is a cosy little jazzclub and the atmosphere was very good!

Unfortunately we could not sit on the front row. Yes, I know, I am spoilt. We see you two guys and we can sit next to you in the middle. I had a good sight anyway. A good sight for A GOOD THING, (I know it when I see it…….)

They started with BLACK CARS always a good beginning. Then GIPSY DAYS followed. They played also A GOOD THING, PEOPLE GOTTA MOVE, DON’T GIVE UP, I JUST WANNA STOP and BROTHER TO BROTHER I don’t know if I mentioned the songs in the correct order because I was totally in The Music Heaven, so I was not aware anymore of time, place or even the order of the songs.

Gino’s voice was so powerful en Michiel played fantastic. Gino was in a very good mood. He was full of surprises. Between the songs he read two poems wich I never heard before. He asked if there was a drummer in the audience. A guy stood up, but there were no drums on stage…Gino offered him his footstool, so he must play the footstool! He did it very good, it was also a very funny view.

Later on he asked for some backing vocals to support him with the song; I JUST WANNA STOP. A couple of guys came to the stage. Gino said at once; Bocelli! One of the guys looked definitely like Andrea Bocelli. But Gino preferred also a couple of girls on stage. Only one girl went to the stage. The other girls had not the guts, I think. They made a mess of the song but it was fun. Gino made a lot of jokes between the songs, or did a silly little dance. Also the encore was another big surprise Gino sang PAROLE PER MIO PADRE! I heard this song only one time live, during the concert at the Pepsi Stage, with the Metropole Orchestra. It is also one of Carlos favorites, Beautiful! And then it was over, to soon as always. But we enjoyed it so very much.

Afterwards Gino and Michiel came back to the fans, so we could have a little chat with them and make pictures. I appreciate that always so much! Barend, you made again beautiful pictures! I like the photo you made with Gino and me, while we do that thing with our hands. I don’t know what we are doing but it looks funny! We could not stay to long because duty calls early, the next morning…. We said goodbye to you two and to Gino and Michiel. So we went home and have a lot of after-fun for a long time…….

BIG THANKS TO GINO AND MICHIEL for the unexpected wonderful evening!

BIG THANKS TO YOU BAREND AND TREES for giving us the opportunity to be there!
Sweet Greetings, Donja en Carlos dated 28 October 2007.

I heard Gino started a new band with Dutch musicians. How is it possible! What an energy! It smells like many more concerts to come in the future……Yes!

Echt Gino.
Vlak voor "Parole per mio padre".
Groetjes, Clem.

8: English/Engels: Hi Barend and Trees,
Herewith also something from me
I thought this one moment was so very, very deeply impressive.
Typical Gino.
This was right before " "Parole per mio padre".
Geetings, Clem.

9: English/Engels: Good morning,
The pictures on the site are very funny and nice!! We can see very well that not only my Father but also Gino Vannelli have a lot of fun and pleasure. Super! I only hope that you guys can change one thing in the text. Dick Heinen is my Father not my Grand-Father. It's better for our both ego's when this is changed! I love to have the original pictures. Maybe you can e-mail them. My father has no e-mail address but if you e-mail them to me and I also have a Christmas gift for my Father at the same time!! I will also try to make some time to write a reaction about this great concert. Thanks in advance and till we talk again... Didi Heinen.

10: Sorry for my English but I was at the SJU when Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borstlap gave that surprise concert.
I am not a fan of Gino or Michiel but I was really impressed how the audience enjoyed this concert. They seriously were into the music... All was very impressive and came from a high level. So you see that I had a great evening too and also shaked hands with Michiel en Gino Vannelli!!! Nice how you support those artists with your site. And many things to read about their work. Thanks from an impressed guy in the audience. R.A.

12: English/Engels: Hello Barend and Trees,
Sorry for the late reply but I had no phone and no e-mail for a while. I read your e-mail from 23 October in Friesland and I entered the competition of the Stadsblad newspaper when I came home again just for fun. Normally I never do competitions and guess what?? I won 2 tickets free of charge for Gino Vannelli! I had to find somebody in a very short time who wanted to come with me. But I succeeded. And that's why I sat down very pontifical and total for free on the right front row... This did not ever happen before in all those past years even with the most expensive tickets I did not succeed to get such good seats.

I saw you walk for a short while and I searched for you during the break because it's time to meet personally. However I could not find you. Maybe you was with Gino and Michiel ? I was also very impressed by Michiel for that matter.

Thank you very much for your e-mail about Amersfoort in the Chapel. I am in Groningen that day so I cannot be in Amersfoort on the same day. But again thank you very much for your loyal e-mails and I really hope to meet you personally one day. Kind regards from Rina P. dated 22 November 2007.

English/Engels: An e-mail from Ivo in Limburg, Holland dated 23 October 2007 with the subject: Urgent GINO VANNELLI news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Barend and Trees, Thanks for the update! I am investigating if it is possible for me to go on Thursday 25 October 2007! By the way, last week Gino was on tv, L1 a local tv station in Limburg, in a tv program called “Limbourgeois”. It was an interview recorded a few days before the Bilzen-concert. Gino looked very tired, but during the interview He told us about a concert with Jaap van Zweden and the Concertbuilding Orchestra, Gino will sing 3 songs on the first of December 2007. And there will be a repeat concert with the CM JazzEnsemble. So this will be continued! Many greetings, Ivo.
