Me and my wife Karin were very pleased to be present during Gino and Michiel’s concert yesterday evening in Laren! We both loved to hear and see Gino and the joyful interaction he had with his soul mate Michiel. Thanks to you both for your contribution in making this happen.

Dear Gino,
 Wow Gino, I have always been very impressed by your beautiful compositions and unique voice. But since yesterday evening, it was the first time in my life you perform so close ( we were on the front row, beside Ron, friends of Barend and Trees) I can tell you that it made me feel very privileged. Your performance was excellent and very dynamic, reaching all borders of the sound spectrum. I do understand why you like Michiel’s talent so much – his style matches your voice so well, it is audible and visible. Your new album will become a masterpiece, I am very sure about that. We are already promoting it to our friends. The concerts and video’s on the web are very useful by the way – creates a buzz! By the way, I would also like to give you my compliments that you have always paid very much attention to the sound quality of you records. I am a true audiophile myself, and all your albums are of excellent quality. I once had a discussion about this with one of the guys of MFSL (mobile fidelity sound lab) and he agreed with me.

By the way, since your voice, rhythm and articulation, when reading a poem, is as good as when you sing, I would encourage you to think of producing an audio book, or CD with these beautiful and witty poems! Really, it is something different, but it might inspire you even more with new songs and lyrics…!

Hallo Barend en Trees,
jullie postbak zal wel weer heel erg vol zijn als gevolg van de optredens van Gino en Michiel. Wat waren ze geweldig he!! Ik heb het optreden in Laren gezien, was veel te laat maar heb toch een plekje kunnen krijgen op de 1ste rij, wat een geluk heb ik gehad he, twee meter van de grote meester verwijderd!! Ik was ook heel erg onder de indruk van Gino's prachtige gedicht.

Een vraag aan jullie: is het mogelijk om het gedicht te bemachtigen? Ik zou daar heel erg blij mee zijn. Vinden jullie het ook zo'n mooi compliment dat hij zo gek op ons land is dat hij hier graag nog een tijdje blijft? Heerlijk gevoel te weten dat hij dicht in de buurt is. Heel veel liefs en ik denk dat jullie net zo verlangend uitkijken naar zijn nieuwe cd in januari als de fans. Monet

I saw the performance in Laren, I was way too late but still I could find a seat on the front row, I was so very lucky, two meters away from the great Master!! I was very impressed by Gino's beautiful poem.

I have a question for you:
Is there a possibility to get hold of that poem? I should be soooo very happy. Do you think too that it's such a wonderful compliment that he loves our small country so much and that he wants to stay for a while? Nice feeling to know he is so close by. Hoi Barend en Trees,
Alweer een tijdje geleden dat ik iets van me heb laten horen. De laatste keer was vanuit Baghdad, Iraq, weten jullie nog wel?

We zijn op 8 september, samen met mijn vrouw Dianne, naar het Laren Singer Jazz Festival geweest. Waren daar omstreeks 19.00 uur en de grote witte partytent, waar Gino en Michiel Borstlap zouden optreden, was nog bijna leeg!! Wat een verschil met North Sea Jazz in Rotterdam! Daar had ik veel geluk en kon zelfs een zitplaats bemachtigen, zij het met zeer veel moeite. Nu konden we in Laren helemaal op de voorste rij plaatsnemen! Recht tegenover de piano van Michiel. Wat een aportheose om "Gypsy Days" te horen tijdens een hoosbui, waarbij de regen hoorbaar tegen het tentzeil aansloeg. Het maakte het wel zeer bijzonder en Gino keek er ook van op.

Het concert duurde wel wat kort, nog geen uur en dat voelde toch wel een beetje als een kater. Ze konden vanwege het aansluitende concert in Capelle, ook geen toegift geven, want ik heb ze niet meer gezien. Jammer, want vele fans waren speciaal naar Laren gekomen. De zaal was erg goed gevuld, maar waar ik me zelf wel aan stoorde, was dat het met name achterin de zaal erg rumoerig bleef en de Gooise kak gewoon bleef doorkletsen. Blijf dan thuis of ga ergens anders kletsen. Ook voor Gino en Michiel was het hoorbaar. Dat was het enige smetje op dit optreden. Gino was weer ouderwets bezig en zong ook een aantal nieuwe stukken, die we wel zullen terughoren op de nieuwe CD. Ook complimenten voor Michiel Borstlap, wat een groot Nederlands pianist. Hi Barend and Trees,
It's a while since you heard from me. Last time it was from Baghdad, Iraq. do you remember? I went together with my Wife to the Singer Laren Jazz Festival on Saterday 8 September. We arrived around 7pm in a big white tent, the tent in which the performance of Gino and Michiel should happen and it was almost empty! What an amazing difference with the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam! Where I was very, very lucky to find seats which was a pain and took lots of troubles. And now here in Laren we could easely find frontrow seats and settle down very smoothly. And straight in front of Michiel's piano.

What an apotheosis to listen to "Gypsy Days" live while the rain poured out of the sky on the plastic of the tent like a waterspout. This made it even more special and Gino looked surprised too.

The only hang-over feeling was that the concert was very short, less than a hour. Because of the next concert in Capelle, two concerts in a row, they even did not give an encore. That was a pity because we did not see them back. Sad for the fans who came especially to Laren for this concert.

The tent was filled with many people, but I was disturbed by the people at the end of the tent who made lots of noises and the people from "Het Gooi" (A part of Holland with Laren as a small town in the middle where many rich and famous people live and have big houses!) The "normal" people call them Gooise Kak. Kak is like shit or crap or swank or "The would-be élite". They kept on talking, drinking and making bad sounds. Please stay home or talk and drink somewhere else. Even Gino and Michiel could hear them. This was the only bad blot thing during the concert.

Gino did it again in an oldfashioned good way! And also sang a few new songs which we will hear again on the new cd. Also big compliments for Michiel Borstlap, what a great Dutch piano-player!

Much more than GOOD, VERY GOOD!!! Me and my friends loved your concert in Laren GINO but it was way too short. Thanks to the Michiel Borstlap Guy too. Wonderful poem! Capelle was really dynamite and spectacular, two different kind of concerts on one evening is GREAT... Thanks from Dawn.

Hoi Barend & Trees.
Zoals beloofd hierbij nog een mailtje van ons over Laren… Natuurlijk keken we ook dit keer er weer naar uit om een optreden mee te maken van Gino en Michiel, en met de verhalen van het North Sea Jazz nog in ons hoofd, waren we er bijtijds naar toe gegaan omdat we zeker niets wilden missen, maar….we hadden geluk toen we aan kwamen en de grote tent ingingen war het optreden zou zijn was er tot onze opluchting nog plaats genoeg en konden we zelfs een plekje krijgen op de eerste rij, dus dat begon in ieder geval goed. Zoals gewoonlijk zagen we weer bekende gezichten van de andere fans en was het vooraan nog even gezellig bijkletsen met elkaar tot het moment dat Gino en Michiel opkwamen……en dan kan je alleen nog maar genieten, wat was het weer heerlijk om naar te kijken en luisteren. Helaas was het achter in de zaal erg rommelig, de Larense kak hadden schijnbaar andere dingen om over te praten maar dat is het voordeel als je vooraan zit dan kan je dat aardig van je afsluiten en alleen maar lekker genieten. Jammer genoeg was het veel te snel voorbij maar dat had natuurlijk te maken met het optreden in Capelle wat daarna kwam. Wij hebben weer genoten van Gino & Michiel en we hopen op meer……

As promised we e-mail you our story about Laren... And of course we looked forward to be at this performance of Gino and Michiel. And because of the stories about the North Sea Jazz which are still printed in our minds, we went very early to Laren because we did not want to miss anything, but... We were so lucky, when we arrived and walked into the big tent, where the concert should happen, there were enough seats and we could even get two seats on the first row. So this started very well. As usual we saw many well known faces of the other fans and we could talk with eachother in a cosy way till Gino and Michiel walked on stage. And than the enjoyment starts, it was so wonderful again to look and to listen. It was a big pity that at the end of the tent people made such a noise, The "Larense kak" (here is the word again!) shit or crap or swank or
"The would-be élite" from Laren had something else to do or to talk about. Thank God we were on the front row and we could close off ourselves from the noises behind us and we could totally and completely enjoy the music. The end came too fast but that has something to do with Gino's second concert that same evening in Capelle. We deeply enjoyed Gino and Michiel and we hope for more... Hi Trees & Barend, what a big disgrace in Laren... I was so ashamed for Gino and Michiel and I could not stand that "Gooise kak" people... I agree with other fans. There were plenty more halls, bars or rooms and even a theater to go to, to talk and to make other noises... It was really, really a shame. They had no respect for Gino and Michiel who gave such a fantastic performance... In spite of the "Gooise kak" I still could hear the quality in music and Gino's beautiful voice... Thanks Gino, thanks Michiel and thanks to Trees and Barend for letting us know about all the concerts which are not listed on the official Gino Vannelli website. Gypsy Days is very beautiful! A few lines from the editors (B&T) dated 9 September 2007.

Gino Vannelli, Michiel Borstlap, Boudewijn Lucas and Erik Kooger made Capelle sparkle with a concert that many Capelle people will never ever forget!!! Gino Vannelli's music and voice spattered around on the downtown "stadsplein" and made many people brighten up and the black sky cleared up by the tunes of "Don't Give Up On Me" and "Brother to Brother" made people wild. Again Erik Kooger made a huge impression with his powerful drumming, real super good to see and to hear and the strong bass sounds of Boudewijn Lucas gave us thick goose-bumps and we did not start about Gino Vannelli and Michiel Borstlap yet!!!

A very positive sigh of recognition when Gino started "Hurts to be in love" because this Gino Vannelli song from 1984 is still played everyday on the Dutch radio after 23 years. GINO'S VOICE WAS AGAIN SUPERB AND DIVINE!!! We keep on saying that without any shame... Really, really amazing after the Laren concert... This show will be remembered in Capelle aan den IJssel that's for sure.

The reactions after the show were very positive, at least 90% positive and about 10% of the audience complains about Gino not singing the same way as on the albums for some people "BLACK CARS" was unrecognizable but hey that's their fault... There are so many oppertunities to hear the new arrangements and they want the old songs like a copy of the cd, we say stay home and listen to the cd... But the 90% good reactions made everything good and the very enthusiastic cheers, hands in the air, yelling and applausing said it all.

We spoke with many people who we did not know till about 2 o'clock in the night and it was amazing how many men appreciated Gino Vannelli's performance and who are already more than 30 years fan and own all His albums on LP and cd... Another thing we discovered was the talk and telling about Gino Vannelli's CANTO album. And people who know all the CANTO songs, this made us both really feel good and smile. WHAT A DAY THIS SATERDAY IN SEPTEMBER 2007: GINO VANNELLI/Michiel Borstlap DAY in Holland!!!

Ontzettend leuk om deze man op te zien treden. Ik ben er mee opgegroeit mijn vader is al 30 jaar fan. Dus het was leuk om hem een keer te zien optreden, na al die muziek dat ik op LP en Cd gehoord heb. Hierbij een aantal foto's alvast, ik begreep dat u met mijn vader had afgesproken dat hij een DVD'tje met foto's naar u toe zou zenden. Mocht u deze niet op tijd ontvangen kan ik de rest van de foto's per mail aan u toezenden. Van de 209 foto's zijn er ongeveer een stuk 60 echt bruikbaar. Ik heb ze alvast verkleind zodat ze direct op een webpagina gezet kunnen worden. How fantastic to see this man perform, I grew up with Him and His music because my Father is already a fan for 30 years. So for me it was big fun to see him live on stage after all this music I heard from LP and CD all those years. In the meantime I sent you an amount of pictures and I understood that you have an arrangement with my Dad that he will mail you a dvd with the pictures. It's possible that you will not receive this dvd in time so if you want I can also e-mail them to you. From the 209 pictures are 60 pictures really usable. I already made them smaller so you can use them directly on your web site. And when you want the originals, it's possible too and than you can print them out till poster format if you want.

OOOOOWWWWW wat gaaf!!! Ja dat vindt hij zeker leuk!!!
Ik moet bekennen dat ik een enorme fout heb gemaakt, ik heb de foto genomen toen hij de hand schudde van Gino Vannelli en die foto is gigantisch mislukt dus daar baal ik wel enorm van. Hij was zo blij dat hij hem heeft gezien, echt heel cool. Ook onwijs tof van meneer Vannelli dat hij de tijd neemt na twee!!! concerten op een avond om toch zijn fans even te begroeten. Ik ben zelf enorm fan van Madonna maar ik zie haar dat niet zo snel doen. Volgens mij is die meneer Vannelli een hele bescheiden man, heel cool!! Mag ik jullie mail ades aan mijn vader geven om eventueel contact te houden aangezien jullie allemaal enorme Gino Vannelli fans zijn? I have to admit that I made a big mistake, I made the picture of Gino Vannelli shaking hands with my Dad and this picture is such a complete failure and I am really, really sad about this. It sucks... He was so very happy to see Him and also to meet Gino. Very, very COOL. And really super cool and awesome of Mister Vannelli that He takes the time to meet and shake hands with the fans after two!!! concerts on one evening. I myself am a big Madonna fan but I do not see or cannot imagine that she does something like that like Mister Vannelli. I think Mister Vannelli is a very humble man, very cool!! Even een verslag over gisteravond:
Gino en Michiel in Laren en Capelle a/d IJssel!
Gisteren kon ik mijn geluk niet op Gino in Laren en Capelle a/d IJssel op één avond, wie had dat nou kunnen bedenken, ik als Capelse in ieder geval niet. De pret begon al vroeg, want om 17.00 uur werd er gesoundcheckt in Capelle. Het was nog rustig en we vroegen ons af of er wel genoeg publiek zou komen, gezien de wereldhavendagen in Rotterdam en er was ook voetballen. Nou het geluid was in ieder geval goed. De muzikanten waren een beetje melig aan het doen en zongen Gino na met rare stemmetjes, beetje lol moet kunnen toch. Ik heb Gino ook nog even de hand kunnen schudden. Ik heb dit de afgelopen tijd al vaker mogen doen maar het blijft speciaal......

Om 18.00 vertrokken we naar Laren Jazz waar Gino en Michiel om 20.00 zouden aanvangen. Het concert vond plaats in een tuinpaviljoen er stond een reusachtige vleugel en ik dacht Michiels handen zullen wel jeuken... Wij stonden achter een beetje te kletsen met Barend en nog een paar Gino fans. Het liep aardig vol en we besloten om maar te blijven staan. Carlos was een beetje naar voren gegaan om te filmen. Naast mij stond een groepje rasechte Gooise vrouwen die nogal vervelende uitlatingen deden onder het genot van vele glazen champagne. Er werd ook druk gespeculeerd hoe oud Gino nu wel niet zou zijn, ik hoorde 70 noemen naderhand 63 haha grappig! Wat hij dan wel gebruikte om er zo jong uit te zien. Nou in ieder geval geen botox.......hihi

Op een gegeven moment waren ze (de draken) toch wel stil want hij had toch wel een hele goeie stem. Dat zou ik zeggen ja..... Gino had er in ieder geval geen last van gehad, de echte liefhebbers zaten toch vooraan. Michiel speelde de sterren van de hemel en Gino zong prachtig als altijd en droeg ook nog één van zijn mooie gedichten voor. Het concert was top, de entourage wat minder maar dat is mijn persoonlijke mening.

Daarna was het weer snel terug naar Capelle. Nou de angst dat er weinig publiek zou zijn was onterecht.... Het stond al helemaal vol. Gino en Michiel werd per auto naar het podium gereden. de bassist Boudewijn en de drummer Eric waren ook van de partij. De zonnebrillen werden opgezet en Black Cars werd er in geknald en het stond gelijk als een huis. Het publiek was enthousiast en de sfeer prima. Er werden ook weer wat nieuwe nummers gespeeld waaronder mijn favoriet Don't Give up, Rosebud en nog een nieuwe nummer waar ik de titel even van kwijt ben. Verder natuurlijk Brother to Brother, It Hurts en I Just Wanna Stop waar het publiek wel uit volle borst meezong, in tegenstelling tot Laren.

De muzikanten gingen ook weer helemaal uit hun panty, de drummer probeerde zijn drumstel in mootje te hakken tijdens een geweldige drumsolo. Bij Michiel vlogen de toetsen bijna om zijn oren! En de bassist cool als gewoonlijk gooide zijn bas er ook flink in. Gino was helemaal in zijn element. Aan het einde als toegift; People Gotta Move, waar iedereen enthousiast gehoor aan gaf. Aan alles komt een eind zo ook aan dit geweldige concert.......

We hebben nog even nagenoten onder het genot van een hapje en een drankje met jullie ( Barend en Trees) en nog wat fans, in het theatercafeetje. Gino was moe maar voldaan hoorden we. En toen was het weer tijd om naar huis te gaan. Het was weer een geweldige avond!!! Wat worden we de laatste tijd toch verwend met zoveel Gino..... En in 5 minuutjes thuis, beter kan je het toch niet wensen........

Here is our report about yesterday evening: Again a super fantastic evening, yesterday I was so very happy Gino in Laren and in Capelle a/d IJssel on one evening, who could have thought that??? NOT me, me as a resident of Capelle.

The fun already started early at 5pm during the soundcheck in Capelle. It was still very quiet and we wondered if there should show up enough people in the audience, because of the the World harbour days in Rotterdam and there was also a big soccer game with the Holland team that evening on tv. Anyways the sound was great. The musicians were fooling around and tried to sing like Gino does but with funny voices... So cute! And a little bit of fun ought to be OK! I also had the oppertunity to shake hands with Gino. I was allowed to do that many times now in the last couple of months but it keeps on being and feeling special, very special...

At 6pm we left for Laren Jazz where Gino and Michiel had to start their duoconcert at 8pm. The concert was in the gardentent and there was a very gigantic piano and I thought Michiel's fingers will itch now to play this colossal piano.

We were talking with Barend and a few other fans at the end of the tent, many people walked in and we decided to stay where we were and Carlos went a litte bit more to the front to film... Next to me there were a few real "Gooise women" who spoke very bad about Gino and did say some annoying words while drinking too many glasses of champagne.

"Gooise women" needs some explaining: Het Gooi is a small but beautiful part in the middle of Holland close to Hilversum where all the famous tv people and movie people and singers etc...live but also business people with more money than the average Dutch man or woman. It's a kind of Hollywood but than a million times smaller. And we have a fun tv series at the moment called "Gooise Women" which is a kind of parody about the women who live there and their sometimes extreme crazy ways of life. And Laren is in het Gooi... So we recognized some of these Gooise women...

Anyways, they were very busy speculating about Gino's age, I heard 70 and lateron 63 hahaha how funny! And what does he use to look so young. Oh well, under no circumstances botox...hihihi

At one moment they were very quiet and calm though because HE has such a good voice.(those dragons!!!)

Yes, you may well say so a very good voice! Thank God this did not bother Gino at all because the real and true music lovers were in the front rows.

Michiel played a superb performance and Gino sang as beautiful as always and also Gino recited a new wonderful poem. The concert was top but the entourage was not that good but that's my own personal opinion.

After this Laren concert it was back to Capelle as fast as we could. The fear of having too few people out there was not a right feeling. The city square was packed. Gino and Michiel were driven by car to the stage. And there were Boudewijn the bass-player and Erik the drummer. Sunglasses on and BLACK CARS smashed in like a musical bomb. They did it!!! The vibes were in the air!!! The audience was very enthusiastic and the atmosphere was fine. They also played some new songs, also my most favorite "Don't Give Up", "Rose Bud" and another new song of which I cannot remember the title at the moment.

And of course "Brother to Brother" - "It Hurts To Be In Love" and "I Just Wanna Stop" with which the audience sang along lustily as contrasted with Laren.

The musicians went out off their panties completely and ecstatical and the drummer tried to slice his drums in little pieces during a fantastic solo. Michiel's keys almost flew all over the place! And the bass-playe cool as usual slammed his bass into the tunes. Gino was totally in his element and at the end the encore: "People Gotta Move" and everybody in the audience went enthusiastic wild. At one point everything ends so also this superb concert...

We had some after-fun in the theater café with you (Barend and Trees) and some other fans while we enjoyed a nice snack and drink. We heard Gino was very tired but satisfied and He felt good. Oh well, time to go home again. What a great evening again and again. We are spoiled rotten with so much Gino in a short time. And home within 5 minutes what can you wish more? Life can be good and enjoyable. And I am totally ready for 29 september in Bilzen! See you there! Greetings from Donja and Carlos.

allereerst: wat een leuke website hebben jullie over Gino! Ziet er goed uit, complimenten.
Dan: mag ik een vraag stellen? Komt er binnenkort een nieuwe CD van Gino en Michiel Borstlap? En omdat mijn man eind september jarig is, zou ik hem daar graag mee willen verrassen. Ik zal deze vraag even toelichten.

Mijn man was dus 1 van de ongelukkigen die niet bij Gino's optreden tijdens North Sea Jazz aanwezig konden zijn (die te volle zaal dus...). Maar wie schetst zijn verbazing toen wij afgelopen zaterdag in Rotterdam-Capelle bij vrienden hoorden dat Gino daar op zou treden..?!?! We stonden vooraan en hebben allemaal (vrienden inclusief...) genoten. Tijdens een pauze tussen twee nummers dacht dat ik Gino iets hoorde zeggen over 'working on a new album with the band' of zoiets. Misschien weten jullie meer?!? Ik hoor graag jullie reactie.

My Husband was one of the unlucky ones who could not get into Gino Vannelli's concert at the North Sea Jazz 2007 (that too crowded concert-hall...) But a very big surpise for us was to hear at our friend's place in Rotterdam-Capelle that Gino was going to perform there that Saterday evening?!?! We were in the front row and everybody (our friends included) deeply enjoyed the concert. During a break in between two songs I thought Gino said something about working on a new album with the band or something like that. Maybe you guys know more?!? I love to hear your reaction.

Ik ben na het einde met mijn collega nog een biertje gaan drinken voor het Isala theater, maar jullie ook daar niet gezien. Ik vond het concert weer helemaal te gek, al was Gino wel wat aan de late kant en ben dus blij dat ik toch besloten heb te gaan. Maar wat een geweldige muzikanten heeft hij toch weer weten te strikken. Ik vond het wel erg jammer dat ik jullie niet gezien heb. Van mijn collega, die wat langer gebleven is hoorde ik dat hij jullie wel gezien had. Jullie kennen hem weliswaar niet, maar ik had jullie uiterlijk omschreven en ik hoorde maandag dat hij "mensen had gezien die verdacht veel op mijn omschrijving leken". I decided on the last minute, very unexpected, to go to Gino's concert in Capelle a/d IJssel, with a colleague. I searched for you two, but I could not find you which made me very amazed and surprised. After the concert I had a drink with my colleague in front of the Isala theatre, but I did not see you two there either. The concert was to cool and too fantastic again in spite of the fact that Gino was late again. But I am still happy that I went to the concert. And again Gino did rope in the very best musicians he can get. It's a pity that I did not see you two. I heard from my collegue who stayed longer than me that he saw you two lateron. Of course you do not know him, but I gave him a description of your looks and on Monday I heard that he saw people who looked suspiciously like the people I gave him a description of". It is almost sure that it were you two. Oh well people, the very best. And I am very curious and anxious for the new Gino Vannelli cd. The new songs sounded so very good. (zie fotootjes) Ze waren met het geluid bezig en verder liep er niemand dus ik vond het ook een beetje gek om pal voor dat podium te gaan staan, dus de fotootjes maar van een afstandje genomen. Als het podium gevuld is dan wordt het toch pas interessant. Wel rijdt de metro bijna boven zijn hoofd.... Ik weet niet hoe lang hij optreed, zal niet zo heel lang zijn denk ik? Maar 4 metro's komen er minimaal voorbij. Op zich valt de herrie wel mee hoor dus hopelijk heeft hij er geen last van. Weten jullie al hoe laat morgen de soundcheck ongeveer is? (See the above little pictures) They were working on the sound equipment and there was nobody walking around on stage but I thought it was a little bit too silly to stand right in front of the stage so I took the little pictures from a distance. When the stage is filled it gets much more interesting anyways... Oh well, the metro train rides above his head... I do not know how long the show will be and I guess not too long isn't it? But at least 4 metro trains will drive through. It's not that much noise but I hope this does not bother him. Do you already know at what time the soundcheck is? PERFORMANCE OF A POPICON CAPELLE - The live performance of the Canadian singer and songwriter Gino Vannelli last Saterday in Capelle was a BIG success. There is no other way possible because of his big talent in singing and writing and how to mix it with pop, rock, jazz and classical music so he has many, many fans since the 70's. Vannelli was very famous in the early days because of the hit "Hurts To Be in Love"and "Wild Horses".


Capelle - Many things to do in the Capelle aan den IJssel area last weekend. Many monuments opened their doors because of Monumentday, there was an art market in Capelle and also a very extensive musical program. So Worldartist GINO VANNELLI shined at the Capelse city square with a brilliant performance and everybody could see the visitors clearly enjoy themselves.

CAPELLE AAN DEN IJSSEL - Twee stoere beveiligingsmannen ieder aan een kant op het podium. Het moge duidelijk zijn: er stond zaterdagavond een ster op het podium bij het Capelse Stadshartfestival. Bekend bij iedereen boven de 40, aldus een fan. Het was Gino Vanelli die Capelle met een optreden vereerde.

Dat deze muzikant, met wat onnatuurlijk ravenzwart haar, wat te laat begon, mocht de pret niet drukken. Het Stadsplein stond vol met Capellenaren die zich een feestje in de eigen woonplaats niet lieten ontnemen.

Hoewel, jongeren lieten het toch wel een beetje afweten. Slechts her en der stonden een paar jeugdigen. Wellicht dat die meteen waren vertrokken na het optreden van Young and Desperate, de Capelse trots waarvan de meeste bandleden niet ouder zijn dan 16 jaar.

Van tevoren was er nogal gedoe over het geluid dat de bands zouden produceren. Burgemeester en wethouders besloten dat per jaar drie dagen het geluidsniveau omhoog mag van 75 naar 110 db.

Dat was tegen het zere been van de bewoners van de Merelwijk. Ze protesteerden bij het college van b en w. Niettemin ging het festival gewoon door.

CAPELLE AAN DEN IJSSEL - On each side of the stage 2 macho security men. And we have to be very clear: There was a Worldstar live on stage in Capelle at the Stadshart Festival (Stadshart means the heart of downtown Capelle) "Well known with people of 40 years and more..." Says a fan. It was Gino Vannelli who honoured Capelle with a live performance.

This musician with a little bit unnatural deep dark raven-black hair came too late but the audience did not mind. The city square was crowded with people from Capelle who wanted to party in their own hometown and nobody could take that away.

However, there were not many young people. A few young ones were spread around the square. Maybe the young people left the square immediately after the Young and Desperate live performance, the proud of Capelle and the band members are not older than 16 years.

There were a lot of troubles before the festival about the sound and the maximumvolume which the bands produce during the festival. The mayor and the council of Capelle decided to increase the level of the sounds for 3 days a year from 75 to 110 decibel.

The people who live around the city square in the Merelwijk (Black-bird District) were very mad about that and they made many protests and complaints to the local government but the local government still allowed the festival anyways...
